I saw them for the first time on the last CMA show, and I thought they were horrible! Country music gets worse with every year.
Melanie, please don't beat me!
I like Big and Rich. And honestly ... everyone on the CMAs this year sounded awful ... or at least all the performances I saw. It's like they were trying to avoid an "Ashlee Simpson incident". You could definitely tell no one was lip syncing ... LOL.
Don't base country music on that awards show. I saw Trick Pony live this summer and they ROCKED!!! Of course ... it helped that I was in the front row.

I'm with you on that one. About the only new artist I can stand lately is Toby Keith.
Garth Brooks and Shania Twain ruined it for everyone.
I miss Johnny Cash.

1. Toby Keith isn't new.
2. Joseph, half of the CMA audience agreed with you.
3. I still love country, and not the weepy kind.

One of the first ones I remember was Ernest Tubb. And his record shop. I could only get it on AM radio after midnight. And I feel old too.

...can't take him, either. He's just about too stuck-up.
I liked him before September 11th. His music just sounds like one big Bush public service announcement now.

(showing my redneck side here)
We didn't do anything except be who we are and one day they flew some planes into our buildings to get back at us. For what because we are capitalist pigs? Well I think that is ten times better than living in a third world country under some ruler that is only out for himself and treats the people like crap. Why be pissed at us? They can come and live here to if they want and live the same dream I live.
Anyway my point is they all deserve my boot in their ass. What a bunch of psyco nut cases!

I support the effort in Afghanistan, too. Even though we agree on that, it isn't the American Way to shove a boot up someone's ass.
It is when they shove first.

It started in 1898 with The Philippines Quote:
Rudyard Kipling
The White Man's Burden Poem lyrics of The White Man's Burden by Rudyard Kipling.
Take up the White man's burden -- Send forth the best ye breed -- Go bind your sons to exile To serve your captives' need; To wait in heavy harness On fluttered folk and wild -- Your new-caught, sullen peoples, Half devil and half child.
Take up the White Man's burden -- In patience to abide, To veil the threat of terror And check the show of pride; By open speech and simple, An hundred times mad plain. To seek another's profit, And work another's gain.
Take up the White Man's burden -- The savage wars of peace -- Fill full the mouth of Famine And bid the sickness cease; And when your goal is nearest The end for others sought, Watch Sloth and heathen Folly Bring all your hope to nought.
Take up the White Man's burden -- No tawdry rule of kings, But toil of serf and sweeper -- The tale of common things. The ports ye shall not enter, The roads ye shall not tread, Go make them with your living, And mark them with your dead!
Take up the White man's burden -- And reap his old reward: The blame of those ye better, The hate of those ye guard -- The cry of hosts ye humour (Ah, slowly!) toward the light: -- "Why brought ye us from bondage, "Our loved Egyptian night?"
Take up the White Man's burden -- Ye dare not stoop to less -- Nor call too loud on freedom To cloak your weariness; By all ye cry or whisper, By all ye leave or do, The silent, sullen peoples Shall weigh your Gods and you.
Take up the White Man's burden -- Have done with childish days -- The lightly proffered laurel, The easy, ungrudged praise. Comes now, to search your manhood Through all the thankless years, Cold-edged with dear-bought wisdom, The judgment of your peers!
IMHO The Current In's haven't changed
