Does anyone have an FTP recommendation?
I am used to WS_FTP, but I can no longer afford their FTP program, and when I tried to pirate a copy of it, the time limit crack gave me problems after so many days elapsed, so I tried SmartFTP, and it worked ok for the first 30 days or so, but then I started getting lockups and crashes in SmartFTP once the trial period ended. plus I just don't care for the nag screen lol
if its supposed to be free for non-commercial use, then whats the nag screen all about? lol and after the 120 days or so it just ceases to function thing all about. that doesn't seem free to me.
so then I moved to FileZilla, and it bugs me that I cannot modify the view layout. like for instance, I don't like the fact that there are no "upload" and "download" buttons to click on when you want to transfer files back and forth, and that I can't edit files right from the server like I could with ws_ftp or smartftp, and I don't like the directory tree views in filezilla because I don't use them and there just in my way, and it doesn't give you options to remove them like it does in smartftp or ws_ftp
so I'm like, ok, now what? LOL I'm just too picky I guess. hehe

Tom, we have had this conversation before. http://www.smartftp.com/download/It's free, it works well, trust me. I do everything FTP with it, four or five beta forums, this forum, my other live production forum, all of the other pages that I have online here and about. Welcome back.

Smart FTP still works for me. I think he was using the newest version and that pops up nags The versions I linked to should keep him happy

thanks Tral, yeah that did work. Sorry I didn't reply back, but i am trying to limit my time here so I don't wear out my welcome so to speak.
thanks Jim, that was my first thought before I asked here, but after downloading it, I got upset that I couldn't modify the layout, can't have it all I suppose. hehe I just think it has too many windows, all you need is 2 windows, a "remote" side and a "local" side, with buttons that say "upload" and "download" thats all ya really need, but I dunno, its like FileZila for instance, why do you need a directory tree, and a file tree, in 2 separate windows? thats just wasteful. lol With other programs, you can press the "X" on windows you don't need, but not with FileZilla no. thats all I didn't like about it really, oh and that it doesn't have upload and download buttons, I'd get confused as to which was the "remote" and which was the "local" side after awhile. LOL
I should just go back to WS_FTP LE is what i really should do.
