net transport, isn't that a proxy? http://www.net-xfer.com/default.htm"Net Transport" (also called NetTransport or NetXfer) is a faster, exciting and the most powerful downloading tool that you ever saw, now support the most pop Internet protocols, including: * HTTP / HTTPS * FTP / through SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) / SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) * MMS (Microsoft Media Services) * RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) * PNM (rename PNM to RTSP) * BitTorrent * eMule

I've been using AceFTP recently. So far I like it. It has all the functionality that I need. And it's *FREE*. When you load it up, it does pop up a screen trying to get you to buy the Pro version. But you can click a button to continue with the free version. No other nagging stuff that's shown up for me.

Wow, really? I hope they fixed that darn hardware footprint activation crapola. Thats worse then Microsoft. Least Microsoft gives you so many activations, and even then lets you call to reactivate. Lavasoft gives you 1 thats it. You have to reinstall XP for any reason, poof there goes your activation, and money, right out the window! ticked me off, I only received a months subscription because of that. I'll never buy a Plus subscription from them again!

nope, looks identical to the 2007 version. Wow, what did they add? looks and acts exactally the same. (shrugs)
wish they would put an option in the settings to skip scanning of the HOSTS file, that process takes 5 minutes alone to run, ya know with all them entries in their from spybot? If you use opendns you would be more secure as well W&N http://www.opendns.com/I use it on my router level so it affects all my computers

I haven't really seen any advantage to using opendns. What advantages have any of you noticed? When you try going to www.amazoon.com it takes you to the right web page instead of that site

Oh, so its primarily for people who can't spell? The site says its faster but its actually slower than my comcast servers. That's because it does filtering of phishing sites as well I believe among other things Also you can create an account there from what I read and tell it what to filter out like porn etc if you do have kids which is nice

The fact that its slows us down is why I was asking if there was atleast ONE good reason to keep it. I need some persuasion here. the reason it slows you down is because it is actually filtering the whole net to make you safer. If you don't want safety then don't use it. All the stuff it does is on the opendns website if you look. I use it on a router level myself which does not seem to slow me down.

I looked at the filters and I think it would have been good to have when a$$munch lived at our house, but I'm really not seeing anything compelling to get me to keep it. We don't surf porn and don't do that much to get us in trouble on our macs. It does more then porn Here is the page of why it is useful - http://www.opendns.com/features/overview/I switched when I kept getting 404 errors when trying to surf to amazon as after I switched I no longer have trouble getting websites to load due to dns reasons.
