Hang on, boys! I don't know HTML and can't seem to figure it out (I'm not stupid, there's just some things I don't get!!). There are some web page maker programs I have, but I don't work them properly or something. I'll consider this, though. And thank you for the help.

Thanks! How old are the kids? I have a Blues Clues, a Spongebob, and a really nifty Halloween theme with *scary* wavs.

Sometimes I get really compulsive and make theme after theme. Last count was 150 finished and maybe 60 partly done. You should SEE my library of cursors, icons, fonts, and sounds.
When I decided to make themes I had to teach myself a lot of things, like Photoshop, editing sounds, and in a couple of cases, making my own cursors & icons. It's fun & keeps me from climbing the walls.

Well, my first PC (4 yrs ago) was a 98 box with Plus! and I started looking at the various themes. Then I found some online and downloaded Desktop Architect and I think a theme maker textfile (I've since made a better tutorial) and just played. The first theme I did was Dracula, then some fairy themes and some of old paintings. Sometimes they just didn't work, or the colors were wrong, or the font was wrong. Sometimes I put on too many event wavs and it made you nuts to use the theme.
I do get other people's themes at times but I end up tweaking them to my taste or taking them apart and making them better. Heh heh. There are a couple of thememakers I never mess with, they are way too good. One is Girraffa, and one is Psychokilr. The problem with getting stuff off the internet (even the good stuff) is that often the themes and screensavers are wrapped in spyware and it can really mess up your computer trying to get rid of it.

Yeah, well it's a silly thing to be compulsive about, I know! I've been known to look for DAYS to find the right icons for something. And when I made a bluebird theme I had to have actual bluebird wavs. It got so bad I'd stay up all night and practically make themes in my sleep. Once I woke up and there was this gorgeous wallpaper on my desktop and everything matched. I had no memory of making it, wierd, huh?

I like playing with themes too, but I can't make one. Sounds like a talent there, Melanie! My wife currently has a theme that's Native American, sort of a spirit-girl-wolf. Don't know where she found it. I have one of "Spider-Man Meets Batman", but I tweeked it a little and made the desktop a pic of my online-game super-hero WrathStar. I wouldn't mind seeing some of yours though. |zzY

Would you guys like for me to upload to Harold 1. My theme making tutorial and 2. Desktop Architect, my favorite theme maker? (the author of DA doesn't update it anymore) OR I could post a link here, whatever you all want. I say that's cuz it's hard to find, and the author doesn't have a website up anymore.
Themes are EASY to make. The tutorial goes into a lot of detail, but you don't have to do all of it, Anyway, it might be fun.
Or am I insane? Ok, I probably AM, but.....

Yupper, I was using 98 when I started, those themes work on my 2000 box, and I've given them to people using XP, so that covers it.

Any type of icons etc you guys want I can probably send them to you. I have 73.1 MB of cursors - plus more zipped, and 44.8 MB of icons - plus more zipped. I have no problem with zipping up collections for anyone who asks. BUT try Tucows for all of that and more. Most of it is spyware free.

I just made a screensaver out of old-fashioned Halloween cards, and a couple of years ago I did one like it for Christmas. Mine are simple slide-show screensavers, but Annie Reb has some nice Victorian ones here. (Be careful, some of her things have spyware packaged up with it.)
I know XP has a built-in slide-show screensaver thingie, but I like to use Picture and Sound Show , which is free and lets you package up your screensaver to share.

It's gonna be 2 and 4, plus that Santa I posted a couple of days ago, a Holly theme, maybe a poinsttia one too. Than after I do the Cold Case theme I'm taking a break for a couple of months, I have some non-computer projects to do. Oh, I'll still come & post here and do email & stuff, but I'm neglecting other things lately (looking guilty).

Ok, I finished the happy little Gingerbread theme. I, uh, put "Sugar Sugar" on it for the wavs. Um. If ya want it, let me know. Maybe the kind Mr. Harold can host it?
Also, Jim, I've got a lot of stuff for the Battlefield theme. I've got cool gun icons and cursors and 2 wallpapers to chose from. I'll do some screenshots tomorrow.

I'm taking on way too much. I'm at the computer WAY too much. I have other hobbies, like listening to shortwave, and jewelry making, and I'm neglecting it all. THere are dust rhinos in the corners of my house that grab the broom when I sweep. So here is the themes I'm making and then I stop for a month or 2:
CandyCanes Cold Case Battlefield 1942 for Jim.
I have to tweak a couple more, but for the sake of my real life that has to be that. After the holidays and after I catch up on stuff, I can do Harold's idea, and other online things besides email and here.
I know no one is pressuring me, I'm just compulsive is all.

Tomorrow my little friend Liz (not so little, she's 13) is coming over to learn to make desktop themes. Do ANY of you have the thememaking tutorial I wrote? My copy is corrupt dammit.
