The One Rod got me started on this back in the factory days, and now I listen every Saturday at 5 on NPR. Prairie Home Companion is great!!!! Garrison rocks!!! Here in St. Lou, you can hear him on 90.7 on Saturdays at 5pm and Sunday at 1pm, but I love hearing it live Saturdays. Rod, you're still an old bro of mine... I never forget. |zzY

I've listened to it before! It was good when I heard it. Here in Pittsburgh, they play it on 90.5.

I haven't listened to that in years, but I used to love it. I enjoyed the tale of the man hoisting a barrel of bricks up to fix his silo, and "Guy Noir" was always good.

I used to listen to Prairie home companion as well as alot of other shows that were on when it would air. Finding the station is hard though as it is low on the dial and i think the show was only on saturday or sunday here. Since everyone is talking about old radio shows here, I found this morsel on slashdot that the bbc is gonna start broadcasting new episodes of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy on September 21st the exact article is here . They have links on that page to an mp3 from the show i am guessing as well as links for the exact stream to tune in to I for one will try to tune in to it

Guy Noir rocks. Thinking about making him one of my "joke" characters over in City of Heroes. Hehehe, the Ketchup Advisory Board... "These are the good days, when Barb and I could lounge on the veranda. The neighbors were run off by a horde of babarians that were interested in collecting mid-60's green plastic lawn furniture, and I was promoted at the office to the official title of 'Executive Corporate Doctorate of a Position We've Yet To Create'. Then I came home one day to find her trying to play her old vinyl albums on our CD player... "Oh Barb, what's wrong? What are you doing?" "Oh Jim, it's just that I can't hear the good music anymore... it's just like our entire lives have spun out of control like a needle sliding across a record... see, I can't even get our old Leo Sayer album to work..." "Now honey, stop that, let's go in the kitchen and have some ketchup. It has natural mellowing agents that make it possible for you to relax and understand today's confusing technology..." |zzY

New movie news I just found about Praire home companion http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050515k.phpAll-Star Cast Run On The "Prarie" Meryl Streep, Lindsay Lohan and Woody Harrelson are set to star in Robert Altman's next movie, a spin-off from Garrison Keillor's legendary U.S. radio variety show "A Prairie Home Companion." Keillor has written the script and will appear as himself in the movie, which will shoot this summer in Minneapolis. John C. Reilly, Lily Tomlin and Maya Rudolph are also confirmed to star, with Kevin Kline in talks to join the cast reports Variety. The film is based on the fictionalized premise that Keillor's multi-award-winning show, which is carried on 500 radio stations across the States, is being shut down after 30 years. As the ensemble of performers, musicians and back-stage crew prepare for the final live broadcast, long-simmering passions boil to the surface while an imperious stage manager struggles to hold everyone together. Streep and Tomlin play sisters, while Lohan is a sexy ingenue. A menacing stranger, who might just be the angel of death, stalks in the wings, but the show must go on. "A Prairie Home Companion" has been on air since 1974. Keillor tells homespun tales of the fictional Midwestern town Lake Wobegon, which are interspersed with musical interludes.
