A place to list recommended books/stories, share opinions and reviews. Broad from Technical Manuals, Short Stories to Novels and Science Fiction. Pretty much anything that is worth reading. Also anything better you can think up in this regard.

I never read it, but the movie was good.

The Giving Tree was good, makes me cry every time.

Aliens books, not just the movies but there are several other stories as well. They are probably not the best books in the world but I found them enjoyable.

I have read every book by Robert B.Parker ( Spencer for hire Novels) and he has started 2 new series a few years ago.

I have boxes and boxes filled with books I have read and kept for 22 years.
I have read many DOC Savage books which is an old series and hard to find the books.
An excellent read is the Autobiography of Chuck Yeager, crazy what he got away with .

Count of Monte Cristo - Saw the movie and loved it. I haven't read the book yet, but will do so in a few days. Any differences? Better/worse? Also; Anyone else here love Mark Twain?

Ah, the Man of Bronze along with his 5 cohorts Long tom, renny, monk, jonhy, and ham and once in a while Pat would make an appearance Doc's Sister I used to love reading those stories

If you still are in to reading them SprayTech, once in a while someone posts them in some of the alt.binaries.books newsgroups. Or you can read the original pulp versions of the stories from 1940s at http://www.blackmask.com/page.php?do=page&cat_id=234

Do you remember Johny Sunlight as one of Doc's villains I think he was the only one to appear in two Doc stories

Its been over 20 years since i read them , and dont remember alot of the story lines.

Thanks I'll look into that link.

Did you ever read any of the Matt helm series Trall?( forgot the authors name)
They made a movie of one Matt Helm book called Murderers Row , Dean Martin played Matt Helm , and had a gun that when you pulled the trigger it had like a 5 second delay till it fired, it was like james bond, he had alot of gadgets.

They actually made more then 1 Matt Helm movie with Dean Martin I think. Looking on Google, I found references to "Murderer's Row" and another one called "The Silencers"

I never got in to Matt Helm, but I did like the Destroyer series alot Even had a whole bag of them here until I came down one day and they all were damp and waterlogged from water in the basement

By the way, those doc savage books are the ones that were originally in the pulp mags during the 40s before bantam books cleaned them up and republished them so don't be surprised if you read some stuff that is not politically correct in them. It is the only way the site can stay legal and have them online I am guessing.

I read the bantom book reprints of doc savage as well as the omnibus editions when they printed those

I even had a comic where doc met the fantastic four at one time when I was in the military

I remember Matt Helm's 5 second gun too as well as his belt that turned in to a sword when he added water to it Or soemthing like that, it became super stiff with water

The Burke Novels. Burke a career criminal raised by a corrupt and abusive child care and foster are system. Now an adult with a dysfunctional attitude
Well written. Thinker Spenser without the love. And with some social commentary. Think Upton Sinclair
