So.. Anyone brave enough to stand up and freely admit that they secretly opened my package against my will and have stolen the contents of which I have a ransom card here that says that if I dare see my package intact once again that I must go seek the great tutu and give it to them in exchange, or else I shall be doomed to a empty package for the rest of my ill fated and perilous no package life?

For what basis should they be or have been banned? There are quite a few that were rather good if not great and I see no reason other than perhaps a reason of "This book is contrary to my beliefs and essentially has a great story and must be banned because cannot provocative or otherwise have a great storyline". One cannot ban knowledge, they can only suppress it. Sooner or later it will surface and I'm continually hoping for the former.

Alot were challenged or banned because of content. "Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret" by Judy Blume mentions menstruation. The Harry Potter series is about a boy who happens to be wizard, and we all know that being a witch of wizard means being akin to Satan (what a piece of malarky).

I so agree with you, that's why Banned Books Week is so important to me.

Every single parent that is against Harry Potter I can bet you $1 million that they let their kids watch and read the Lord of the Rings and the Wizard of Oz. Freakin hypocrits.

Does the fact that i've read over half of them damn me? Or is it the cause of my evident stupidity?

Umm, I am afraid ignorance blinds me but what in the world could they find wrong with a boy being a wizard? I love that story, they might as well ban Lord Of The Rings because Frodo is a hobbit with big feet, or any fantasy based story. Plus is menstruation really that taboo? Women have been dealing with this since the dawn of humanity, so umm.. I finally say; 'What the heck?'

Oddly enough, that's my cousin. They had no problem with letting their boys watch and read LotR. I was like, there's no difference! Fantastic creatures? Check. Wizards? Check. Loyalty? Check. Friendship? Check. Nope, don't see any difference.

I think you used the word for this: ignorance. Just not on your part.

Those books run counter to "christian doctrine" Information about sex and body development subvert Traditional Family Values in that they supply an information source not controlled by the head of the family

If the head of so called family did not supply such information then where are they to get said information? Even if they did, is it not possible what they say is biased? This is so crazy, as if what they believe is so fragile that if another source of knowledge shows up it must be bad or otherwise it may harm their belief.

It is matter of the definition of Original Sin. Is it disobedience or sex.
They seem to opt for sex

Maybe the head of the family should have a little control over what the children are reading and watching. I don't think we need to ban the books from everyone just for the sake of a few nitpicky, overly controlling "Christian" parents.
