I had a good time with this type of thread at "The Other Place", that I decided to make a thread about the books here, even if I am the only one interested. This thread may contain spoilers and such.

Anyway, the title for Book 6 is officially "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". The hyphen is official. Also, now that many have let their imaginations run wild with all kinds of specualtion, J.K. Rowling released a few sentences from her book. It was released at her site J.K. Rowling.com. The sentences are:

He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp.

JKR herself has said that the half-blood prince is neither Harry, Voldemort (young and old). There also has been no date set for the release of Book 6. It is however half done, so I am thinking sometime next year.

Could it be Harry's Dad that escaped the Bad weather that the bad guy thought did it's job? As that could explain the limp

Your not alone in this interest. The kids and I love the Moves although I have been told the books are better I don't read alot.

The books are much better. They leave way too much out of the movies. The movies are very enjoyable though. I like them too.

J.K. Rowling has turned in the manuscript for the 6th book. She is to announce the release date within 24 hours on her site.

I told my niece that the date was to be announced today. I told her, if she's lucky it will be out by her birthday. Her birthday is August 19. I'll be preordering 2 books.

I just read that earlier today. The rumor is it will likely be less lengthy. I could care less. They are an easy, fast, fun read.

Yeah, it took me less than a day to read "Order of the Phoenix". It would have taken me less time if I hadn't had to work that day.

I didn't read it that quickly. My eyes need a rest every forty pages or so.

Since I quit smoking, I find it harder to read books as I used to be able to focus more when I smoked and could burn through a good book in 2-3 days as I used to read 2 or more at once when I would read If I got bored I would bookmark the page and start on another book then come back to the other one later

I don't think quitting smoking queers your attention span. It didn't affect mine. It's probably age

I suppose it might be different for depressives

I just pre-ordered my copy of the book from Barnes and Noble; so it should arrive the day it is released.

Out of the three games I played, I like two (Chamber of secrets) the best.

I've never gotten into all the Harry Potter merchandise. I think all the hype cheapens the books.

The children's cover from Bloomsbury is ugly, as usual. The Scholastic cover is just averagely good. I really like the Bloomsbury adult cover.

Good lord! Some people should be banned from watching television or reading fiction.

That kind of stuff happens all the time Joseph. Look at the number of adults who still let their kids go to neverland alone without supervision even after all the media attention he got from the first trial.

People usally do not think straight when infatuated with stars or are a fan of some star.

Even if you don't agree with the Michael Jackson statement then look at the number of killers on death row who are sitting behind bars who get fan mail and even proposals as well from member of the opposite sex.

Such is the curse for anyone who has alot of folks viewing them at once as their is a fan for almost everyone in the world if you ask me

Men arrested for trying to sell new Potter novel
Two London men allegedly tried to sell book to London tabloids

LONDON - Police have arrested two men suspected of trying to sell stolen copies of the upcoming Harry Potter novel.

Police in Kettering, 80 miles north of London, arrested a 37-year-old and 19-year-old Friday on suspicion of theft and firearms offenses.

The new book, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” is to be released July 16.

Only 22 more days until HBP comes out. If it weren't so hot out, I would think I was waiting for Christmas.

Mine should be here on the day of release. I pre-ordered around seven months ago.

Aah I feel better. I finished the book yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it as usual. Now I just have to wonder how long it will be before the next one makes it to the shelves.

I'm having trouble getting enthralled with this one. Of course, nothing has been able to peak my interests in weeks.

A friend of mine just got her copy today, so she hasn't read it yet. Anyway, she was getting dressed and had the news going on in the background. Someone gave away the big spoiler (who dies). The media should wait at least two weeks before letting that out. I assume it was Fox News, because that's the only news she watches.

I know who died, but not from the media, or reading it.

I am bad about peeking. I looked at the end of the book to see if I was right about who died.

I still need to read all the good stuff in between to tell me how the character died.

I think the spoiler is a bit bigger, and less silly, than that.

Cat thinks the death was a trick and you'll find out about it in the next book.

Rawlings has refused to share her plot for the final book with ANYONE, she says basically if she dies or can't write it, tough noogies to all her fans who are left hanging at the end of this latest book (ok, not a quote, my paraphrase...). I think that's a nasty attitude to lay on her fans, but then again I never drank the Potter kool-aid. Everyone in my HOUSE has, though.

I think Cat is wrong. Rowling writes about death the way it should be in a children's book: living things die, sometimes painfully, and they don't ever come back. I hope she doesn't bring any of her dead characters back from beyond when so many small children, who really shouldn't read HP, love the books. It will teach them the wrong concept of death.

I was really having to strain to get into this one. Of course, in the end, I enjoyed it. Once all the silly parts were over, I really got into it.
