Hey all, I just thought that I would drop a question in here.

One of the things that has been going on with my wife and myself in the last month or so is a real problem... we've been fighting a nest of bumblebees under our house. Does anyone know how to ditch these pests?

I've tried a lot, from a bit of honey in a gallon jug to trap them, to sprays that won't kill them. Anyone have any ideas on how to defeat bumblebees?

Get a spray that will kill them. Or wait until winter and then drag them out while they are hibernating.

I'm not sure though, Harold, these are the big fuzzy black and yellow bumblebees... and the space we're talking about is a crawlspace of about a foot and a half... we've no basement in this place. If a guy gets in there and they're not asleep... he's as sure a dead man. No quick way out.

Also, there's a good chance they've burrowed in the ground, and built in there. No nest to pull out... we get a lot of ground-nests around here.

In that case, I'd take a garden hose in with me in the middle of winter if they are in the ground.

Seems like you might want to talk to a real exterminator.

Can you see the nest??? I would be very careful about this. Wait until the sun is setting and use a pressure washer and see if you can knock the nests down. Make sure you don't trap yourself to were you can't abandon hose if they wake. After you get it down make sure you spray with some sort of wasp killer.

Yeah, wait until dusk and throw two or three cans of bee killer in while yelling "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" then close the door to the crawl-space and dive behind a stump, car or any other kind of barricade...you know...for extra dramatic effect.

This is why Roz keeps a close eye on me. She says she loves me but I know better. She keeps hiding things from me.

I don't blame her.My son-in-law is like that on big
equipment. I got him to do some dirt work for me
and my daughter told me I would be sorry--sure enough
he pushed over a light pole. But we love men like
that--gives us something to talk about.

Hah!

Hey... How about one of those bomb/fogger things? You can set it off and throw it in there like a grenade.

So far, wasp spray doesn't even affect them. I've been using a couple of cans of brake spray, it seems to kill them, but you have to nail them pretty good with it. I could try the fogger thing, but I wonder if it would bounce off them like the wasp spray does, haha!

I thought it would be worth a try. Might help. Might not.

A can of fogger insecticide is a metaphor for life!

(Too deep for me.)

Maybe playing Classical music will get rid of them. Have you tryed playing Flight of the Bumblebee to them and see what happens?

I know it might cost, but if they are in an area where it is dangerous for yourself and others, a pest control company might be the only way to go.

Soap and water might be another solution. Bees hate the mixture. Unfortunately, that can take up to 2 weeks to finally work.

Boy i bet , I would hate to wash every one of those little buggers

I agree with rogue as an exterminator might be the best way to handle this situation.
