Old School returns in a big way tomorrow night. Got my ticket to Rush's 30th Anniversary Tour! It's been a long strange road, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm glad I went. It was a show for the long haul fans... Like me!

I didn't have enough money to get a program but the R30 logo is from the cover and also the tour. I hope I can get one online in a few weeks.

I did it all, man! And I have photos from the St. Louis show to prove it!

Here's Alex and his purty pink shirt. Notice the picture of him playing from about 25 years ago on the screen behind.

The stage was awesome. HK amps on Alex's side and industrial washers with the new vending machine on Geddy's. We don't quite know why...

Glad to hear that it was good. My dad wanted to go, but for some reason didn't get tickets to the local show.

you know the bands today dont have even a thimble amount of their talent.
I hate to say it but the music today just makes my ears hurt..........

I heard this morning from John Ulett who was the local radio personality that introduced the band. He's been on the St. Louis airwaves for 25+ years and has been to a lot of shows. He was impressed. For the price of tickets now he thought that this little 30 year old band gave more than twice as much as other bands. They played for over 3 hours!

Well i think its because they do it because they still LOVE making music, plus love playing for the public.
They thrive playing live , and still enjoy playing together.
Its not about the money anymore i dont think.
Todays bands are set on becomming rich , and they are more HYPE then talent.

It's the bands that get past the hype that I enjoy more, it seems. If anything Rush is the anti-hype band. Never once in 30 years of making albums have they put pictures of themselves on the front cover of one. Neil was quoted once as saying it was bad enough to have famous hands. He didn't want a famous face as well.

Its sad how these record companies just sign everyone with no talent today , they just get what money they can out of them then dont promote them anymore , then on to the next bunch to siphon the money from . and they say they dont make any money off music, its why they are trying so hard to stop the downloading of music off the net.
They are like the Don King of boxing .
Some one should start a Internet Music company where bands can just make music, upload it and have a some one that knows alot about music, put it all together for them and sell it on there for a small fee, let the bands make the money off their talent instead of the lables.!!!!!!!
Alot of music guys know about putting it all on a CD , all they need is an Internet Lable to upload it to that can really advertise and get people to buy from there. unlike itunes, napster, ect.
Oh well maybe I'm just stupid and dont know what I'm talking about

That might be like the 100 mile per gallon carburetor. They're out there but usually squashed before it gets used. I know that there are places to download music given free by the artist, but it all goes one way if money is involved. The idea would work if put together with the CD burner vending machine that makes one-off copies when you put your money in. The machine I know about sells computer software but why not music?

I heard Friday that they are working hard to put a DVD together of their R30 tour. They say that it will be ready around Thanksgiving. That will be cool! From rush.com:

Quote:

Rush will be releasing the highly anticipated R30 DVD in late fall 2005. R30 will feature the sold out concert that Rush played in Frankfurt, Germany on September, 24 2004, during their 30th Anniversary tour.

Neil Peart is currently working on the follow up to his instructional drum video "A Work In Progress." The follow up will be released as a DVD and is set for release in late fall 2005. The new DVD is produced by Hudson Music and is entitled "Anatomy of Drum Solo".

Please stay tuned to rush.com in the coming weeks for information regarding these releases

She's surviving the best she can. It's never perfect though. Some days, and some moments, she feels alright and some she's not so well.
