I love to have as much upload as I currently have download, but not as much download as upload..

Agreed, I find that most everywhere I download can't keep up with even a 3 meg download speed. A few can, but most are like sucking peanutbutter through a straw.

But the ones you find that can keep up, are glorious.

So I went to work Thursday morning I think it was, the internet was down at my house. When I got home it was working, but a little too good I thought. Went to DSL reports and took a speed test. Sure enough, we got a little upgrade for free. In the quotation box above is probably the last speed test I took.

Here's the new one. I've waited a few days cause I wanted to make sure it wasn't a glitch, or something they were going to take back. It seems permanent at this point.

I just found out my phone company bumped up my DSL. We used to get 600/160 actual on a 768/192 plan. Now we are getting 850/300 on a 1M plan.

Haven't actually talked to anyone from the company, I think they may be dropping some of the lower end connection plans. Same maybe true with your dsl. Originally we only got 1.5 down, then it went to 3Mbits down, now we've gone to 5 Mbits down. This has been over a 5 year period we've been with them.

Probably an optical connection. Some areas around here you can only get optical, and the speeds are ungodly. This is all I get with my 5 Mb connection from Charter.

Or since it is comcast cable, they may have a 10 Mbs connection, we couldn't afford that with our cable package being so high right now.

They say we have a 6Mbs speed. I wouldn't pay for the higher speed.

Actually I'm pretty happy with it. It's been pretty decent and staying up more than it used to. We also have a choice of IPTV cable over the DSL here too. I've been tempted to ditch Directv.

I can hear my neighbors. That's enough for me. My insurance agent has his rifle range backstop in line with our garage. Our new next door neighbors have several atv's that are running along the property line at all hours too.

Noise abounds this morning, my neighbors are getting a new roof. Houses are so close together here I can spit and hit the side of their house from my doorway. Had to get up early and grumpy.

I would love to not be able to see or hear any neighbors. One day we'll find a place out in the middle of nowhere. It'd be worth sacrificing internet for peace and quiet. Not that we're suffering from lots of noisy neighbors or anything. It'd just be nice to be isolated.

Not having to worry about neighbors is really nice, but encounters with certain wildlife can be quite startling.

I grew up in without many neighbors, its lonely and really scarey after watching horror flicks.

Mine is acting very weird. I'm getting 477Kbps down and a whopping 2.1Mbps up.

That report was from dslreports.com, but SpeedTest.net says I'm getting 2.441Mbps down and 621Kbps up. I tend to think DSLReports is more accurate because things have seemed really sluggish.

DSL Reports 1996 kb/s download with 1326 kb/s upload with warning about ISP showing signs of upload compression.

I'm still running really slow, so I think DSLReports is more accurate in my case. I tried to download a file and I was only downloading at 35KBps. I'm usually downloading at ten times that.

Indeed. When I first got broadband access, I was just so impressed with being able to download a few hundred megabytes in ten or fifteen minutes, but now even that seems to take too long.

Agreed, downloading twenty megabytes in sixty seconds, compared to them downloading that in eight seconds.

Funny...I ran the test using the SpeedTest.net app on my phone a minute later, and got 3.20 up and 0.76 down with a 78 ms ping.
