I first joined the band I'm in back in 1993. I've played with others, but I've been a member for ten years. I can remember playing a week night plus Friday and Saturday all in the same week consistently (plus working the day job for 46 hours). I've faced storms, snow, floods, bikers, the law, bad fights (in the audience), and almost falling off stages. I have never failed at a gig.

Until last night.

This flu thing resurfaced on me at Christmas and I think I was shaking off my fever last night. I managed to play the first hour up to the break and that was it. Jeff had to call a substitute and I went to rest in the truck. No one was mad but if anyone tells you this flu isn't so bad you can laugh at 'em. This flu will drop the best of us.

I am sorry that you are sick! I messed around and did not take the shot this year. So if I get it it will be my fault.

I'm at least 75% better tonight. I think last night was the last gasp and it took all my energy to push it over the edge. If my gig would've been tonight I would have been fine.

I hope you get well soon. The flu has been a major pain in the @$$ this season.

I have no more dollars!! Just paper that said I had dollars and this is where they went!!

Sometimes my papers say they need more dollars.
