With the advent of the lord of the rings being made it struck me that there are other great books out there that I would love to see turned in to a movie or two if done correctly. Correctly meaning sticking with the book as much as possible if they could

That said, some of my nominations for book to film is Fredrick Pohl's "Gateway" saga about the Heechee race Shhhh I am still on page 89 of it so don't spoil it for me

And another book that I would loveeeee to see made in to a movie is Tim Powers "The Anubis Gates" as I have loved that book since I read it while in school

I would love to hear of some other books that others have read that would make a great movie Just don't say Michael Chrichton's "Timeline" as that is due out soon

All the books I have read lately are d@mn computer manuals and I don't think you could make a movie out of those.

Sound neat. I'll probably wait for them to come out on video since I don't know anything about them.

"Snow Crash" has never been made into a movie, has it? That one would be kinda cool.

I hear they're making a miniseries on Steven King's The Talisman which is the all time best book I have ever read. I just saw today the newlt released edition to the Dark Tower series. I wish I had $35 to spend but I guess I'll have to go to the library to read it. Dark Tower kicks major ass and I hope they make a series of movies about it like the LOTR. It is the best and most out there concept that makes total sense when you think about it. I love King's style of writing. He is the only person that I can read straight through without ever putting the book down.

Yes I have, actually. It took me 5 days to get through it. I loved the begining part and right up to the part where everyone chose to either go east or west but once they started reinvent their government is when it started to get boring. But I read on anyway.

I've heard a rumor that one of Leo's book will become a movie. Just I'm not quite sure which one because they were all works of a literary genius. Perhaps they can do what they did with the "Lord of the Rings". Make a trio-story at the same time?

Actually I find most movies to be lacking compared to a good book, for it does not do the book justice. While LOTR movies are great, the books are even better. As nothing can surpass your own imagination, putting words into a visual story somewhat limits it. Of course there are exceptions.

I like great classic books, and most if not all have been transformed into a movie. And a seclusion of such gets me to my recommendation. I happened upon this because a former Girlfriend wanted me to read it, and it is definitely a chick book.(Envy - Sandra Brown) But it's plot/sub plot/sub plot is truly intriguing and the book is overall interesting to read.
While it is not one of the greatest books I have ever read, it is a rather good one, even if happens to be a chick book...

Great book but would they have to take all the planets apart to build the set for such a movie?

Nah. They can do it like Star Wars. Build a big blue room and do it all in CG!

I saw the BBC TV adaptation. I think it deserves to be updated with a big budget.

I myself would not mind the Forgotten Realms series, as well as the Harpers series, and the avatars series that talked of the time of troubles

I used to love reading the forgotten realms series. Read the whole Icewind Dale series before the game was even made It was alot different then the game
