Finished "Under the Dome" by Stephan King. Looking for something new

Can you please tell me if it's a rewrite of The Mist by him? I sent that book to a friend in Arizona and she has not read it much but so far she says it's following a lot of the way the mist is written.

I never read Mist. Basically it's about a Dome that comes down and the human nature of what goes on in small town politics when they are cut off. I heard it was similar to Mist but better.
