Has/does anyone used/use Netflix's On Demand?

Yeah. We watch some movies online. It's mostly some older ones but alot of new shows are on there too.

We use Comcast OnDemand and watch the free stuff

I didn't really like it. The quality wasn't what I thought it should be, and very little of what's in my queue is available on-demand.

They're also not in 5.1 which is a turn off for me. Sure you can buy that set-top box and watch them all on your TV in somewhat OK quality. But stereo? No way!

I'm just not a big sound nerd when it comes to watching movies. I remember my cousin making me watch Star Wars with him and I found the 360º booming and exploding very annoying.

Music is different. I do expect top notch equipment when listening to music.

I use headphones for everything, TV, computer, iPod so high class sound is not a concern

I do too, but because I don't like to impose my musical tastes on others. I am using the Apple earbuds right now, and I HATE them. I just haven't had several hundred to drop on earphones to replace my old Shure's. But soon I will get the new Shure SE530's.

I prefer to use headphones as well. The sound is less dependent on my current environment, whether moving from one area to another away from the source of sound. When playing games I tend to move quite a bit and it is distracting when the sound changes merely because you move.

Maybe it's because I'm just more used to headphones, but I find a good pair as good or better than a high end speaker system.

Joseph, you should check into 5.1 music. There are plenty of DTS music CDs out there and some DVD-Audio discs out there and the quality of the sound is amazing. It's like hearing stereo for the first time.

Now that, I would probably love too much. I don't need to buy any more toys for a while.

My reciever and DVD player doesn't handle DVD-Audio at the full resolution of 24 bit/96 KHz but there are some DVDs that have a video track that just displays the name of the song and the audio track is a standard 5.1 DTS track. I have an REM disc like that. I have a Doors DVD-Audio disc but I can only listen to that one in Dolby Digital. But I've got several that are standard CD's with a DTS encoded .wav file.

The first time I heard music in this format it almost brought a tear to my eye, it sounded so good. I was blown away by the fullness of the sound. Not only that but having it in full 5.1 it really seperates some of the sound from the mix so you notice certain aspects of the music that you never noticed before because it was all just crammed together in a low-res stereo mix. Sting's Nothing Like the Sun and an Allanis Morrisette album are the two best sounding albums I've heard in this format. If you can, you've gotta find the means to hear some music like that, being a muscial audiophile.
