We actually set out caches for the milestone. Like Bruce's 1000th cache. The cache is named after the person and hidden in a silver or gold ammo box depending on the amount of finds.

Caches loaded and ready to go. First before dawn we are going to Horicon Marsh to watch the geese fly. The last time I saw that the sky turned literally black with them. Then on to breakfast and a day of caching.

I like the new GPS is it rechargeable or does it take regular batteries?

And a great time was had by all. The entire event lasted 15 minutes. Including sign in, lunch, raffle, and a group picture.

Our events usually last 3 or more hours.

World wide flash mob events are intended to be very short. It is a take off off what other people do some times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_mob with caching you get a smiley for the event and it is usually used as a meeting spot for groups to get together and go caching.

I got a Delorme PN-40 for Christmas. I have not had a chance to cache with it yet but it seems to be real nice. It even downloads 800 characters of the cache page so in most cases it eliminates the need for a PDA for paperless caching.

Why I like caching. The view is worth the trip. I don't know where this is but I'll keep looking.

Now that is what a cache in the wild is all about.

Is it Saturday yet. I'm chomping at the bit to get out to find Tupperware hid in the woods.
