on a serious note: I watched a video about 2012 and this theory explains that technology is developing at such a rapid rate, that by 2012 we will have achieved the ability to time travel and that is why the Mayan Calendar stops at that point. It's just wonderful to see that slavery is alive and well in this modern world.

By US law your children are your property. With a few terms on how you can treat that property, but property none the less. Which is why schools can treat them how they do and how you can raise them the way you want for the most part, and allow you to restrict their actions.

Parents force children to do chores (work) for free though some give them an allowance. They force them to go places even if against their will (school, church, grandmas). If they act up, the parents can chose how to deal with it, either through punishment or garnishment of any wages and most likely both and restrictions of any actions deemed fun such as games and hanging out with friends.

All of this of course is about preparing them for society and to become a functional adult with morals and to be a proud member of your family. If they weren't mostly to do with as you wish, then you wouldn't be able to prepare them for this transition. Or make them clean their room.

Today is the day tv stations are supposed to do a soft test so I would suggest scanning for new channels at 6:25 pm I assume that is local time as the article did not say it was EST or anything else.
