The cool thing for me was I met these guys backstage in St. Louis after a show and they couldn't have been nicer... Or more excited. They wanted to know what we thought of the show and seemed thrilled that we came by to say hi. It was quite a night and I was lucky to meet them. It's too bad they broke up.

Nuno Bettencourt is definitely one top notch guitar player. He was the first to run up to us, and he hasn't lost his touch by this video clip. He doesn't run around as much as he used to, but he's still a player! Then when Gary joins him to sing it might as well be Extreme all over again.

The lead singer needs a new career.....and a pair of jeans in a bigger size. Other than that the band is damn good.

Where did these guys come from?

You know I'm not entirely sure. Their first album did OK, but the second one put them on the map. They always had a heavy rock sound with a groove that other bands didn't achieve at the time. This was the early 90's. I think it was mostly led by Nuno's playing, and Gary sounds a lot better in the studio than live really. Gary ended up singing on a Van Halen album too.

Check out a song called He Man Woman Hater, it had a lot of top guitar players around here crossing their I's and dotting their T's. It is a unbelievable performance by Nuno.

Here you go. I haven't seen the whole thing, but here's Nuno (a little younger, closer to when I met him) shredding his guitar solo of melodic hammer-on's!

Thanks TOR. I will find some time today when I can enjoy it. This is one of the things that I love about youtube. It allows me to experience bands that I would never have gotten the chance to see.
