Here we have a vase of white roses and Bells of Ireland. Nothing spectacular except I have been trying for over 10 years to grow Bells of Ireland and if I get anything at all I get one scraggly plant that dies before it gets a start. Once they are planted it takes about 30 days to germinate. (Yes I have tried all the tricks.) Then it takes another couple of months until they blossom. Which means up here I get 1 shot a year. This year I have about a dozen healthy plants. I'm so happy.

Amy the Vase also has a lid. We bought it from QVC. they do an all Irish show on March 17 and then again sometime in September. The only time I watch any of those shows. And then only to buy Roz something special.

Today's geocaching trip.

This is where I grew up. The house sits a 1/4 mile off the road. The picture was taken I'm guessing about 2 to 3 years before I was born. None of the family own it but the people that do found this picture in the attic under some insulation when they were doing some remodeling. Ask my sister if we would like to have it. the original was almost completely destroyed. Her grandson has a degree in computers. He took it to Milwaukee where he went to school and his professor in the art department and his professor in the computer dept. got together and did some restoration work. I think it wonderful. Its the only photo I have of the place.

The youngest of my three sisters is five years older than I am. When she was three on a cold winters day the house caught fire. It was so cold the doors on the fire house in the village froze shut. By the time the trucks got there the house was down.
The three older boys had gone to school and the three girls were in the house. Mother smelled smoke and got the girls out of the house. She left them on the drive way and ran to the barn to get Dad. The girls got cold and went back into the house. The house was almost engulfed when Dad went in to get them. Mom said he literally kicked a door out of the frame to get in. He found them and got them out. Two were burned so bad they don't remember the fire.
If you look at the barn where you can see the top of the silo. You will notice a whit wall. That wall is all that is left of that part of the barn. The barn was L shaped and they tore that leg down to use the lumber to build the new house.

The barn is now gone as is the taller of the two sheds. The other shed was moved when dad sold off most the farm.

Anyway a great place for a boy to grow up. Never had a bicycle but I had a pony. The places we went and the adventures we had are a whole story for another time.

I think at one point they had a basket ball hoop on the barn or fence but may be wrong as its been so long

I love being in old barns. It is a shame that yours is gone now.
I remember making forts with the bales in the hayloft and every once in a while you would find a garter snake that got caught in the twine. I am glad that you have this picture.

I went up into the attic yesterday to get the Christmas stuff down. decided to bring most of the junk down. we are spending some time sorting and throwing out.
As you can see the girls are not thrilled.
