I have Marks computer shut down at a certain time thru the linksys router by MAC address not ip address. I looked at the log and it appears he's going to message boards about using a proxy server to get past the router. Is this possible? I'm not seeing an answer just a how to and I don't have a windows machine to try it.

Unless he spoofs a working MAC address, then he'll not have a connection.

The proxy shouldn't do anything unless the router was merely disabling the dns by MAC address. Then he'd just need to get another dns server or use a proxy.

No, so I wouldn't worry about it until he starts looking for ways to spoof mac addresses. \:\)

Yeah he thought he'd be smart and start using his second computer after the restriction hours. I've been waiting for him to figure that out. I got that mac address blocked too.

Is it possible for him to unhook the router and hook the cable/dsl modem directly to his computer and then the blocking doesn't bother his connectivity?

Not without bumping his dad and me off and we'd know right away.

Those server logs are a big help in this deal.

Not really. Tom knows Mark is a liar but doesn't care to be a parent. Thats the main issue with Mark neither of his parents want to parent him and the birth mother (egg donor) doesn't want to pay anything yet I have this low life in training mooching off me and taking up space in our small house being a filthy pig. His oldest son is 21 dating a 15 year old and Tom thinks this is fine. The only way I got him out of the house today was to totally block his internet connection.

And to add insult to injury he won't listen to me because I'm not his mom but he doesn't care that he's eating food I pay for, watching cable I pay for, surfing the internet which again I pay for. Kinda reminds me of Don and Wesley.

It reminds me of my brother I used to complain about before he found a gf \:p He used to start all sorts of crap when he was here all the time and would complain about living here even though he never had to pay a dime to live here while I help out with stuff here .

I know exactly how you feel amy as when he was here I kept telling my mom not to put up with his crap and kick him out rather then put up with him.

Marks not home today YEAH \:\) \:D I'm thinking of going into his room and making him a limited user on his computer with parental controls on. Is this too bitchy? Will it wake him up to the point he needs to be a little cleaner before he sits his lazy ass on the computer? Opinions wanted

His dad will say he's smart with computers because he spends alot of time on the computer playing games but I know he isn't smart enough to get past it.

He has it password protected so I can't. But if he wants to do that fine. I'll just take the whole freakin thing out of his room if he wants to continue. Law states we have to provide 2 outfits that are seasonable and a warm safe place to sleep. Says nothing about computer or anything else. He's gonna learn that if he don't have to do something I don't either.

I had to take my son't video game away from him when he was in school. Not physically, I just took the power supply. He could see the game console setting there, just couldn't use it. Once his grades came back up, I gave it back and he was able to play again.

I'll see what James can tell me about getting around password protection. He got past mine on the old laptop. He didn't do it for any particular reason except to prove to me that he could.....changed my user name and picture and added a new password and then I changed it back later.

Indeed it does. Only Don never used our computers or dated 15 year olds. \:D
