Big Brother 8 is the eighth season of the US version of the reality TV-show Big Brother (US TV series). The season was announced on February 1st, 2007. Julie Chen will return for this season as host. Alison Grodner and Rich Meehan have been announced as executive producers. Arnold Shapiro stepped down as producer following All-Stars but will serve as executive consultant on the show. A format change following the dropout is promised. Casting calls ran until May 5, 2007. It has been announced that Mark Burnett's new show, Pirate Master debuts on May 31, 2007. This affects the Big Brother airing days once it starts airing in July. Pirate Master could cause a moving day for the Big Brother 8 (US) eviction show. It has also been said that the show will change its schedule and that the episodes have a good chance of being available "on demand" on digital cable providers since CBS on demand has become more widely available.
On May 13 2007, the first televised advertisement for Big Brother aired, confirming that there will be 12 houseguests in the Big Brother 8 house.
