I asked Harold to break the old folding thread up and create another forum just for folding. The old thread had some good stuff in it. EMU?, skins, and a lot of good stuff. Would you guys mind reposting that stuff.
I for one have never been able to figure out that emu? or whatever it's called.

Its actually called Electron Microscope and can be found at http://home.comcast.net/~wxdude1/emsite/download.html
Make sure if you download it to get the full version and not the upgrade.
The easiest way to set it up is to download electron microscope from the site above. Unzip the entire contents of the program to a directory such as C:\EMIII , then go to http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html and download the Windows NT/2000/XP "No-nonsense" text-only console and rename it from FAH502-Console.exe to FAH500-Console.exe and place it in the same directory as the Electron Microscope program which say is C:\EMIII.
Then set the no nonsense clients settings by clicking FAH500-Console.exe while in the C;\EMIII directory. When it asks you to if you want to change the default advance settings, I usally type yes , and change the default to fold in low mode rather then idle mode which is one step higher as idle mode is really low setting priority wise. Also I change the default cpu power from 100 to 85 so it does not interfere with other programs I have running. I also change the save setting from 15 minutes to 5 minutes but that is just me
All the other settings should be self explanatory. Once that is done it will connect to the net or try to depending if you told it to ask before networking, and it will grab your first work unit, also it will download a core unit that actually does all the crunching. When it is done it will say it is safe to disconnct in a dos type box.
When it say it is safe to disconnect , then I close the no nonsense client to set up the electron microscope program. First click the speed.exe file to create a small file that is your computers speed. It's not really needed but sure does look good when the electron microscope program is runing
Then Just click the EMIII.exe file in the c:\EMIII directory and and up top of the program to the left of the words electron micropscope is a little microscope. Click the microscope to create your settings.
If you want the defaults, just hit the first graphical button to the right of the white box that comes after the words box path and if you renamed the no nonsense client like I suggested above it will search your hard drive and fill everything in for you.
If you can use the -local -forceasm commands, they would be added in the box that says use extra launch commands as well as putting a check in the checkmark box as well.
That is basically all there is to setting it up - Also up top ,you can use the arrows to tweak some of the settings like having folding at home shut down when you shut down electron microscope, etc.
Make sure you click save and exit to save the settings and exit the editing controls.

To change names with the no-nonsense client requires you to shut down the client and erase the client.cfg file and retype in your user info with the new name.
You can also run the client with the -config tag on the command.

One of my computers has become unable to send in units. My Windows firewall has all of the folding things included in the exceptions to allow. Should I try reinstalling the client? There's something like 8 units sitting to be uploaded. I would check the box and make sure its connected to the net. Can you browse the web with it. Also if you have a firewall other then windows firewall on that box, then I would lower the windows firewall and check the connection manager and lower the windows firewall on that as well before reinstalling the program.

I got rid of Zone Alarm and I can browse and email. I'll have to dig into it this weekend. Thanks. The problem may not have been zonealarm but the windows firewall You may want to try and reinstall zonealarm and check your network connections like I suggested before. To do that, Click "Start" , "Control Panel" , "Switch to Classic View" If needed, then click "Network Connections" and see if your Connection says "Connected, Firewalled" If it says the above , then the windows firewall is what is giving you the problem and you can stop it by right clicking your connection and click properties, and click the advanced tab and choose settings to turn off the windows firewall. Only do the above after you reinstall another firewall on that machine or it will be unprotected
