walking out to feed the cats this morning and at the end of our drive was the wild turkeys from our neighborhood. In the spring I counted around fifty. This looked like a smaller group. There was people stopped at the end of the drive watching them the other direction. It's nice to take a walk out side and see such wonders of nature.

I'm pretty much fond of all fowl, but Chickens and Roosters are my favorite. I have too many knick-knacks and trinkets around here that are those favs. I vow to not buy a thing until November 5th.

I like that girl, give her a badge for kindness to fowl. I wish to sponsor her and whoever else earns the badge. I will send money by paypal or whatever way the Troop can receive it. I am serious, usually I'm a goof, but for this I am totally serious. Please ask the troop leader to arrange it and then just let me know how much. I would think they must have a farm or animal patch they could earn.

Do you think they know Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so they are making themselves available for, um, hunting purposes?

That is so very nice of you, Ill see her this thursday I will have to tell the chicken girl she has a fan.

As far as the turkeys I don't no if that is the only reason they are gathering near our home or because they know we dont allow hunting at our place.

The guy that lives accross from he owns his rig. His wife never goes with him. They do pretty well and since he is 50+ he doesn't do it as much. When he does drive he seems to be gone for at least four or five days at a time. He must do those long run things or found himself a steady lot lizard!

Yes they can fly VERY well. When I walked up to them to take the pictures, several of the young ones got separated from the rest, and one of the adults flew a couple hundred feet back to them. Then I watched one of the little ones fly as well as the adult. It was pretty cool to see that.

I have only seen a chicken fly short distances, usually to part from the prey chasing after them.
