Oh, right they can't fly

Yes they can fly VERY well. When I walked up to them to take the pictures, several of the young ones got separated from the rest, and one of the adults flew a couple hundred feet back to them. Then I watched one of the little ones fly as well as the adult. It was pretty cool to see that.

They fly into the tops of the trees to roust at night.

I guess I have a lot to learn about Turkeys. I think I was thinking of Chickens, they don't fly, right?

I have only seen a chicken fly short distances, usually to part from the prey chasing after them.
