I hope this get the go ahead. The most innovative idea around here in a long time. Which means it will probably go down in flames.

Indoor outdoor with all the fixins

Is it a movie theater or Dinner theater ?
we have the best movie plexes here , they are all amphitheater style , not a bad seat in the whole place , plus you can order off a huge menu and they bring it right to you . and serve alcohol , they even have a wine list

It looks like it's a dinner theater. I love it! I lived in a town in Massachussettes that had the one and only drive-in theater left in the state and as far as I know it's still operational. I lived about 2 miles from it so I could actually pic up the FM broadcast of the audio so I could listen and tape the movies at home.

It's planned to have 2 drive in theaters. 2 dine in theaters.
Gocart track, Family entertainment center, and 1 indoor and 1 outdoor mini golf courses.

Check out the Link

Roz asked if I would take her to the drive in movies. I said yes. Then she asked if I would take her to the back seat. I said no that she could stay up front with me.

Only when I was a kid. With the push button shift. No matter how far the seats went back they never got comfortable

Its how our drive inn works here , its a low transmitted radio signal from the drive inn as people were ripping the speakers out of the cords for fun .
It was mentioned this summer that our last double drive inn may not be around next summer . I have not been to it in almost 20 years , plus its not in a real nice part of town .

There are actually two I can get to easy enough with a little driving, but Deb is afraid the truck seat will hurt her back too bad.

I haven't been to a drive in in over 20 years, most of them don't exist here anymore. The only one left within hundreds of miles of here is in a country town that shows a movie once a month for the novelty factor. I think kids are missing out on a lot by not experiencing it at least once.

It's all about nostalgia. Not practicallity. Way back when that was THE place to be on a Friday night. I had some great memories of our local drive-ins and that one that I mentioned is still running. I saw my first horror movie there. Friday the 13th Part 3. Scared the living crap out of me and actually traumatized me for a while. Now it's stupid.

But the whole feeling of the drive in was so damned cool. It was the only time you could go, as a kid, dressed in your PJs and be in the car. Or get a big blanket and lay on the ground outside the car and watch a movie. And the way the sound of all those audio boxes echoed throughout the area just sounded magical to me. I really miss it.

Yeah, the bounce back echo was wild. The walks to the concession stand was from another planet almost. I remember going to sleep in the back of the hatchback we had. It was a Chevy Vega! And also where else could you have a picnic and watch a first run movie? No fighting for elbow room with the guy next to you either.

Hearing that echo, hearing the opening and closing of car doors, random cars starting their engines, the crunching of the gravel as people walked to the concession stand, "Let's all go to the lobby" playing before the movies, feeling the condensation of the cooling summer air settling on you. Those are the feelings of the magical times of my childhood.

Really the only complaint I ever had was the crappy sound from the metal canister speaker. Some of them didn't work either. But the radio thing solves that one. I wonder what happens if you're battery runs down watching the movie though?

Well its a moot point. At the meeting the town fathers shot down the idea. "It's a great idea just not in our back yard."
Then they argued it would take farmland out of production. Well the DNR said less than five acres of viable farmland would be affected. The highway department was in favor of it as it would not bother the traffic flow of the nearby highway. All the studies and all the reports were favorable. Only the dull and the ignorant were against it. Stupidity reigns again.

The folks behind the theater said they will build it somewhere.
Just have to keep looking.

As a side bar I give it 2 years before the developers come in and start building more urban sprawl on the land. Then the farmland will be effected. It will be covered with more nasty cookie cutter houses no one can afford.

So much in this area is stopped because of people that never had an original thought that wasn't handed down from their fathers and grand fathers. Heaven forbid anything changes. Nor can they understand why this area is dying. At least these old farts are getting older and soon will be gone then maybe we can catch up with the 20th century. ( yes I know this is the 21st century I'd be happy to catch up with the 1950's)

Ignorant narrow minded dullards

Same here 2dogs , we have survived on Aircraft industry for so long and no one wants to change that as it going in the crapper , 20 years ago we could of had a GM Plant here , and HeartLand Drag Racing facility here and Kansas City NASCAR track , all vetoed by the Mayor . But now he's not the mayor and wants to build a casino on land he stole from the indians north of town .( All in the name of progress ) ha ha ha
And hes getting no where ........... LOL
Our farm ground is being gobbled up by housing developers its not funny , and we are talking about 100-500 acres at time ! and the sad thing is they stack these houses on top of one another , you can literally open your bathroom window and shake the neighbors hand from their bathroom window \:o
I'm glad my neighbors are all 200 feet from me \:\)

I'm sure that there is enough unused ground somewhere. There is at least 3 acres wasted in town here with a closed down motel and restaraunt. And that ain't farm land. So tell them to build it there! \:\)

You start the car and let it run for a few minutes. That also adds to the magical sounds of the drive in.

I'm just surprised that there aren't at least one or two stories of conception at the drive in. The movies seem fond of using it so I would think there would be at least one true story somewhere.

The place Tucson Arizona. The time sometime in 1974. The place drive in movie. The movie ???? I don't remember. My friend Jimmy and his wife Marilyn in front. My date Robin and I in the back.
There we were drinking beer eating popcorn. Enjoying the movie. When Jimmy decided he had to go. Well go he was told bathroom is over there. No he said he didn't want to miss any of the movie. So in a definite brain storm Jimmy (Who by the way was the smart one of the group.) decided to pee in the empty popcorn cup.

Did you know that urine melts the glue that holds the bottom of the cup to the cup. It's one of the things I learned from my friend Jimmy.

Fairburn, Georgia. Probably 2001. My parents were in the front. I was in the back seat, next to my grandfather. We were coming back from Pop's birthday lunch, at my aunt's house. He had stumbled and hurt his knee. My aunt had given him a huge Zip-Lock bag, filled with candy. We stopped to visit a friend that was in the hospital, in Atlanta. Pop stayed in the car while we visited Regina. A few minutes later, we returned. We got back in the car. I was still next to Pop, in the back. We stopped for gas. Pop told me to move my right foot. He grabbed a huge Zip-Lock bag filled with piss. He threw it, into a trash can, next to the gas pump.

I am still amazed that my foot never caused that bag to leak all over the carpet. I am also disgusted that he pissed, in a baggie, and let me ride for thirty minutes with the damn thing under my foot.

You don't even want to know what was found, in a grocery sack, in his barn. ;\)

What's worse is the reason he gave for doing that!

Around here there isn't really a great deal that can be considered strange. ;\)

My older brother once came home drunk and thought my boots in the hallway was the target when he had to go. Mom was real mad that day!

The Bel-Air was not much more than 2 miles away from my old house. I had a bumper sticker from them (I can't remember how I got mine) and with it on display when you drove up on Friday nights the driver of the vehicle got in for free.

So...

We all had a sticker and drove alone. Once inside we'd meet up and watch the free movie! I saw Star Wars for the first time there... That must have been '78. The film was out for a while by the time I saw it. I also saw Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry which looks like was about '74. Still one of my favorites. I like 70's road and driver movies and one with a '69 charger can't be all bad!

I used to go with my brother to get out of the house. He had a conversion van and it was great for the drive-in. Watch out the back on the bunk. Once a neighbor friend went along and when the movies were done we couldn't wake my brother up to go home. He had passed out. Too much beer. So we had no choice but to call Mom from the concession stand and see if she could pick us up. She, of course, would. As we walked to the road we heard a car rolling on the rocks and turned to see his van racing past us to the exit... With the back doors still open. We tried to flag him down but he was on his way and wasn't stopping. So we rode home with Mom. Later on he told everyone that he thought we were in the back.
