Not really. We've americanized them enough that this will have to be reviewed by an appellate court; and it will be another month before that happens.

I am not a believer in the death penalty. He should be made to wish he were dead until he does actually die.

To do so would mean some kind of torture involved as otherwise, how worse can you get than living in a hole with the world after you? I do not condone torture, no matter what reason.

That would not have made a difference. Who ever thought we could invade a country and make a people who hate us love us was a total and blithering idiot.

The only way for us to control a country like Iraq would be to bomb the hell out of it, and that just isn't necessary for our security.

It would make a nice "ant farm".

I am not talking about physical torture. Keeping him locked in a little cell with no sunlight and human contact works for me, however. I do not condone murder, no matter what the reason.

Right there with you.. Murder is murder. No matter if the population or the elected officials justify that death. It is rather barbaric when thinking about it. Though one has to acknowledge that society is one messed up place when death is a legal punishment for those who are so heinous in their own right that others would decree his life be taken. What's worse? Those who justify it or that someone's actions are so bad that they would elicit such thoughts of his ending.

Those who justify it are far worse because they are the majority. Those who commit despicable and horrendous crimes against others are in the minority.

Killing is in our nature but killing other people is not. Well not for most of us. Though while we are not the actual person who pulls the trigger or flip the switch on a fancy electric chair. People are able to cope with executing someone by dehumanizing them and their acts. Perhaps the exact same thing that person did when he carried out unspeakable acts.

So killing someone goes beyond just punishment, it is getting into the same mindset of a killer and taking their life as a result. The true show of restraint and civilized thought would be to condemn him to an alternative punishment other than death. Still today is today, just like yesterday and the millions of days before that.

I don't believe that we will ever evolve to the point of loosing our taste for revenge.

I don't think we should be there but we should have got rid of him when we found him. This has just started another mess.

Why should tax payers pay to house,clothe and feed a convicted criminal that committed murder? I'm for the death penalty in cases where proof can be determined without doubt and with dna evidence to back it up.

They did a study here , and it costs $50-100 thousand PER inmate to house a year , and they have rights ??? No way if you can not abide the rights out side , you loose all rights when inside ! Thats what I was taught in school .

Everything isn't about a dollar. We should do it because we know that taking the high road is best, even though it isn't always desirable. That is what should separate us from the criminals.

My method is much cheaper. If you are convicted of some horribly violent crime, you should be locked in a tiny cell with no windows, and two basic meals a day. If you want more than that: tough.

I don't expect a lengthy, many-year wait on death row for him. Over there they know how to treat unrepentant and irrepairable criminals cheaply and quickly.

I thought that about this trial. Look at how long it took.

I will step in here if I may? I have been part of the system for the last 10 years. I don't know if there is a right answer to this delema, but I do know that this is a very controversial subject. On one hand laws were created to protect us from the people in society who choose to not obey the laws. Protection and incarceration, so that it would be a deterent to a life of crime. The problem is and always will be that the very places that were designed to house these people need to be staffed and the costs to operate these facilities has grown to outrageous amounts. How do you decide if the cost outweighs the benefits of not having these people on the streets? What is an effective method of deterent for crime?

On the other hand, we have created laws that require people to be jailed for things that still require staffing of jails. The problem with Meth addicts is draining our correction systems and the taxpayers are pleading for an alternative measure.

I don't have an answer!

Ok, maybe one, We pull out of Iraq on one condition. They pay for all of our correction expenses. The we move all of our jails over to Iraq.

Time doesn't tell anything. I've asked it many times when you were going to show up again on the webcam and it didn't say a word.

Time will progress, eye will see, ear will hear.. Mouth will tell.

Time tells me that mouth, eye and ear will grow old and die one day but Time will remain. Probably mockingly. Time is prophetic and it speaks only in imagery and actions.

Without the mouth, eye, ear, and brain putting it all together. Time would have no meaning.. For time to exist, time must have witnesses and those to contemplate the greater meaning of it. Otherwise it is but the order in which reality unfolds. And if there is nothing to experience that reality and it doesn't affect anything else whatsoever, does it matter? Does it even exist?

What if time witnesses itself? Then it would have no need for others such as us to witness it

Given enough time, time would become insane. Time is such a great thing but if it doesn't have anyone to share it with, then I don't see how it could continue on.
