Or a more appropriate subject title could be:

Welcome to my parents basement. Lets party like it's 1983!

Ok, I graduated high school in 1983, does that mean I have to sing the Flock of Seaguls song, "I ran"?

I graduated in 1985. So in '83 my bunch would have been old enough to drive to the carry out to buy beer.

Anyone that wants a subforum down here with the subject title of their choice is more than welcome to ask. Then you will be offered the choice of moderating your own subforum.

Not me, I kept chasing the drinking age in NY. They changed it to 19 Jan 1st, Jan 18th I turned 18, then when they changed it to 21 on Jan 1st, I turned 19, I should have taken that as I sign, I just wasn't meant to drink in HS, maybe that saved me.

That's why I have ALWAYS been the designated dummy.

The drinking age was 19 when my buddies and were already 19, so we were grandfathered in while the 18 year olds had to wait another 2 or 3 years or so.

We the people and the media own the war. Do you really want the 'Harold Star' to start up and truly reveal all those "nasties"? You may own the cookies, but we the people own the war.

I love Volkswagens. I remember sitting in my aunt's lap while she drove her VW Cabriolet. It was red; and, given my age, it was probably a 1988 or 1989 model. I was like her first child, and we spent a lot of time together. Then, she met Ron, married him, and had her own children.

Henry J had a bullet nose ;\) and was a studie ;\)
I drove a 76 orange Karman Giha for a year back in 83 .
My mother drove a AMC Pacer for years and loved it .

The 1964-72 El Caminos were cool Joseph , I almost bought a 86 SS El Camino new , but got a loaded Tahoe S-10 instead , biggest mistake I ever made !

In '74-'75 I was at Davis monthan AFB in Tucson. The SAC side had U2's there. Those folks used El Caminos as chase vehicles for the U2. Watching those vehicles chase down the runway after those birds was a sight to behold. The El Caminos had the biggest motors that would fit. Also the way they were souped up (old Term for modifying the motors to get all the power possible.) The drivers had to be careful because of the acceleration, they could burn the tires off the thing.

The coolest car I ever had was a Yellow 1960 Austin Healey Bug Eye Sprite. I haven't gained enough brain matter to post pics yet. so if someone can help me out. You can all see how cool it was. I think they developed a cartoon character from it.

After that I got married-so cars became just something to get from one place to another. No reason to look sexy in a yellow convertible.

I want an AMC Pacer. Anyone got one for sale cheap?

Actually, it isn't a bad looking car. But I'd never get away with buying a car from 1979 \:p

The IS 350 is nice. (Why isn't it a two-door? In person, the rear doors look almost useless) I never much liked the older generations. I am quite excited about the Lexus IS-F.

I've never much liked a Lexus until this last year. They're loosing that plain-jane vanilla look and are actually getting a little pep. I do wish Toyota would loose a few more of the similarities in appearance with their Lexus branded cars, however. They are actually beginning to make me prefer them over BMW.

A son of one of my in-law-outlaws has been sleeping under a bridge. He just won $17000.00 in back pay from the court. He spent it all on a Mustang. He says if he can sleep under a bridge he can sleep in a Mustang. I wonder if he will park it at the end of the bridge.

Going back to the Pacer, I had one. There was a lot of problems with the front steering assembly. They really had a bad design. The whole steering unit failed because of some o-ring gaskets and you could rebuild them but they would fail soon after. You had to buy a whole new unit and it was about $1,700.00 We sold ours.

Those are nice , I always wanted a 69' .
A buddy of mine years ago liked all AMC cars and had a Gremlin drag car , his daily driver was a black 69 AMX , and his show cars was a real rare 69 SC/Rambler , and was in the process of restoring a 70' rebel Machine .
Never have seen him around town anymore .

My son started to worry me the other night. We were in the basement drinking at the bar we built from scrap lumber and log siding that we had left over. He looks over at the basement wall that I just scraped the loose paint off and says" You know what would look really cool? We should paint a mural of the Martian landscape on there and leave the low spots as craters" Now he is showing a creative side that is a culmination of both his mother's and my abilities( very scary) I must tell him to use this power wisely. So now I will have to invite Debra Harry down here to sign her rap song and we can name the place The Bar from Mars!

We are still talking about it! The thing about murals is that you put a lot of work into them and it kills me to see someone else paint over it. Had that happen to me in the Air Force. We spent weeks painting a mural of an A10 shooting up a tank and a new NCO came in a month later and said get that crap off of the wall. It was a well done mural and everyone loved it. It killed me to see it painted over. But anyway I think it would be great and I want to do it.

Ya know it would be nice if someone would turn on a light for me down here. I think there is someone standing in the corner and I don't know who it is.
