Fub, a freudian slip? You say one thing but your subconscious says something else. Like I said I wouldn't mind a single sub forum within a main forum as you could just look at the main forum then go back to the main board and the new post icon should be hidden. It is when you get forums within those other forums that the icon bug is pretty much happening. It is a bug indeed, as when you go to a main forum that post icon should be erased on the main page even if you didn't go to those deeper threads.

This board is supposed to be fun and better than that "other" board. It isn't supposed to be about compromise and forcing users to click, click, click.. Might as well put full page banner ads up to click between every new post.

Joking about the banner ad, as that is a very bad idea.

It still says unread...

If you don't dig into the subs that is. Your method works though CC. You just have to dig through the read ones to get there...

I just have to click on the new ones and it goes away whether I read the post or not.

I am doing the same thing almost I was doing on the old board by having to click mark all read once in a while when I can't find the unread thread that is causing the problem.

It sounds like the better option than clicking through every subforum just to make sure there isn't a new post way down there.

What's wrong with being able to compromise a little?

A new feature that has been coded in is the ability to place an ad between the first and second post of every page along with the header and footer. Not to mention the community intro at the top of the cfrm page.

This also helps to mark all read in a cleaner and more elegant way:

http://www.forum.haroldandrews.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/markallread

More cool new feature and bugfixes are in the works for the near future.

At least I picked the right forum to add multilevel subforums.

A compromise is upgrading to a new board and not having full post tracking. This is confusing and annoying. And I'm not joking, multilevel subforums in subforums sucks. Plus notice I didn't say compromise is bad, but that the board isn't supposed to be about compromise. In that you are compromising in no way while those who do not like it have to either ignore the inanities thread all together or click on each subforum and subforum after that to make sure the new post icon goes away. A compromise on your part would be to move it to a subcategory forum where it can be collapsible at the bottom of the board with the new posters and timeout area so that those who do not wish to partake in it can easily ignore it.

If you only visit the board every few hours or days it isn't that big of a deal as you don't rely on the new post icon to interact in more fast and fluid way. Being able to respond to someone quickly so that they can respond and have quite a few posts while we are able to post at the board. Plus some just do not like clicking all those times just to get to what someone said. It is like clicking through nine categories just to get to a thread and posts someone made.

I don't think we complained about anything on the old board except the bug in FPT. Though I rarely encountered that bug by not clicking the links on the right.

This will only cause people to use the board less as it will have less an impact on those who don't use it very often. Or rather post responses to people within a few minutes of each other. Or they can keep doing that but it will just slow down the inanities thread immensely as it'll be ignored for a few hours so that they actually read stuff in the multilevel forums and not needlessly clicking from subforum to subforum just to get to one post.

Don't worry Kris. I expect that after the newness wears off, people will not use or post in all the available subforums and they will probably gravitate to one forum where all the action will take place and end up ignoring the rest of them.

You're welcome. Yet my plan now is to talk about you at the bottom of the board and cause you to read it anyways. Maybe even open up a subforum dedicated to you and all of the other non-believers of subforums.
