I find it hard to believe that there are people who spend their time on this crap. Books don't cause the harm, it's the morons who sometimes read them.

I think anyone that places a book on a list should have to prove to have read it

People love to blame others and anything else for their mistakes and video games are the movies, music, books ... of the past.

So do I. Books simply present ideas. The people who live by, what I believe to be, stupid ideas are the worrisome ones. Another problem is that readers can often twist a book around to the point that they think it confirms their beliefs. The Bible is a prime example.

Most people that protest certain books have never read them at all. They are just regurgitating what everyone else says. Take Harry Potter for example. All these uptight soccor-mommies that think Harry Potter is satanic have never once even picked up one of the books to inspect it before casting their judgement. They just hear the Bible thumpers slandering it and they just repeat what they say.
I had the misfortune of talking to a moron that told me that HP was evil and satanic. I asked her how she came to that conclusion and she told me that she just "knows it is". I asked her if she ever read one and she said no. I asked her if she ever read the jacket cover to see what the plot was and she said no. I asked her exactly what about it was evil and she said all the magic and spells. I said, "Oh. Ok. So any book that contains magic and spells is satanic?" She said, "Well, yeah." I asked her if her kids have watched Lord of the Rings and she said yes. Wizard of Oz? Yes. Chronicals of Narnia? Yes.
"Funny that all of these contain magic and spells in their story line and you allow your kids to watch that. Why not let them read and watch Harry Potter? Could it be that you are just repeating something you heard instead of forming your own opinions? You are conflicted." As expected, it went right over her head.
