I finally watched Brokeback Mountain (on my own of course) and I liked it. Considering how most men feel in regard to the subject matter I can understand them not enjoying it.
The acting and storyline were very good but any story of forbidden love is bound to have a downside and it left a sense of sadness.
If you have no hesitation in watching homosexual relationships then the movie will be good for when you feel like eating ice cream and sympathising with torn characters. If you don't think you have the stomach for blatent (not pornographic) love scenes between two men then don't even attempt to watch it.

Watching two men kissing and hugging? No. Thank you. When do they break out the pudding?

I don't want to see it because it's so sad, and so tragic.

Anytime you go against the norm it's hard!

I didn't mean to.

I was just feeling badly for those people who love so much and know they can't tell ANYONE. Telling could get you killed, maybe even by the one you love. It's not just a gay thing, either.

I don't have a problem with them whatsoever. Getting killed for any reason is unacceptable.

While I'm not going to run around saying it's a good thing, they deserve the same rights and freedoms everyone else has and whatever their choice. Everyone should be able to accept it.

Wes, once when I was camping, there were 2 guys there who were lovers. It didn't bother me, but I caught myself watching them kiss to see if guys kissed each other differently than they kiss girls. (They didn't seem to.)

I don't have any problems with people doing what they want in this regards. But I could not sit there watching them kiss. To me it's a big turn off. That's just me.

In response to your comment about how it's hard to go against the norm...was there a character named Norm in that movie that the other character pressed up against?

That might be the reason. Female-female kissing is somewhat common, and male-male kissing is beginning to be.

Oh I have no problem with two chics kissing. But two dudes? GGGEEEWWWW!!!
I think the most vivid display of two guys kissing was in Baseketball when Matt Stone and Trey Parker did a very heavy french kiss for at least 10 seconds.

I watched it this afternoon. I didn't love it, but I did like it quite a lot. I guess that I didn't love it because of them casting Heath Ledger as Ennis. I am sure that he had a dialect coach, but his American Cowboy accent was terrible. The whole time, I could tell that he was Australian.

For the most part, I wanted to slap Ennis for being such a fool--a frightened fool. Then I started to think about how I would have acted in his shoes, and I may have done the same things. Throwing conformity and safety to the wind is not nearly as easy at it sounds.

I knew how it would end, but I still couldn't stop it from depressing me. I felt a bit down for several hours after I watched it.

I have the same response as Wesley about 2 guys kissing.

What I can't understand is...

if someone knows it's a highly dangerous lifestyle,
why participate in it?

I'm smart enough not to play "Russian Roulette" or other dangerous things, why aren't these men?

You play russian roulette everytime you have sex as your making love to your partner as well as every partner they ever had.

Also with the way meds are today you have no idea who is safe to sleep with and who is not until it's too late.

Almost everything is a choice. It's a choice to have sex, not a mandatory function of life. Abstinence is always an option.

I just don't like one Aussie's poor attempt at an American accent. He sounded like he was mumbling most of the time. He didn't have that problem in The Patriot or Monster's Ball, though.

Katie, Heath said he talked that way, with his jaw clenched, to show how restricted the charactor felt, how he felt forced into a life he didn't want.

I'm just shocked by this news. I admit, I've seen very few of his movies, but found him to be one of a handful of young actors with real talent and range. It's so sad that he leaves behind a beautiful child and many who loved him.

The reports I've read seem to point to some kind of depression and insomnia, so you're probably right.

If God hated so called people then why would it occur in nature and not just humans? More like the church that spews that crap or the web site owner is worried about it more then God is \:p

I doubt God hates anyone or this planet or them would be immediately eradicated \:\)

I'm going to assume his funeral will be in Australia, so my question is: What are the laws pertaining to picketing and protesting in Australia? I know people have tried to stop that group here in the US with no luck.

I notice all the people doing the gay bashing are old farts at least. My Grandma is like 80 or 90 and she is constantly saying stuff about people because that is the way she grew up. \:\(

You can't blame old people like the guy on that website for not tolerating people. Let's just hope people like him die out without a sound and without spreading the hate to younger generations \:\(

Thank goodness I've never heard of this fool!

I shouldn't have read that because it made me want to blow a fuse. It's not the fact that one ignorant fool said an ignorant and foolish comment. It's because Fox keeps him on the air because enough people enjoy listening to him.

On the whole, I agree with that. But this man was obviously educated and cultured enough to have a respected television show; and, therefore, he should have enough sense to know that saying such things is disrespectful and hurtful.

I can't stand that stupid church. Listening to those hate mongers makes my blood boil too. ANd of course Fox has to give them the attention they need by airing their idiocy.

I think the original version had boys in it, to which I say ewww, but hey to each his own. I think if it had a boy and a girl in it I would say ewww, I just don't think I need to be "exposed" to that type of public display of affection.

Wont you people make up your mind! Hurry, tell me what is not eww so that I may watch it. Not in a creepy voyeuristic way. Rather perhaps in a movie theater. No, not in a Pee-wee Herman way either, seriously people! laugh

You're open-minded enough that I think you'll like it. The movie I mean.

Tell Ann to give warning next time. Quite conflicted. I feel violated! Yet, those gentle, gentle hands!

Her name does happen to be Anne, but not our Ann.
