Well since we had a bad hail storm a month or so ago , I think its time to update my old Base Coat gun of 14 years . Its showing signs of laying an uneven pattern , I could rebuild it again but why spend half as much as the new one .
I am going to Purchase a Iwata LPH-400-LVB , $500 bucks for such a little tool , but its what it takes to lay a nice paint job .
I already have One of these Iwata L{H 400 LV guns but I only Spray Clear Coat out of it , and boy does it lay a slickie , its what I used to clear my buddies 65 Chevelle .
I will also update my old primer gun too as this thick stuff is hard on paint guns , these require a big fluid nozzle to lay it on , and will most likely spend another $200-$300 bucks .
I already had to buy a new 6" DA at $200 bucks( Dual Action Sander ) This is what you use to prep sand the panels before Spraying color , my old DA went through the 1992 big hail storm , and finally shot craps
And I was looking foward to spending my money on a new Apple ( well when the new 13" MacBookPro comes out anyway

I know that quality costs. To get it done right. That's why my bass drum alone is as much as a used car!

Now is yours stained or painted TOR ?
I know some are just stained in different colors to let the beautiful grain show .

Mine is Lacquer Black. The same lacquer they use on their grand pianos. They say it takes a month to finish the paint job. I don't know how true that is but the Yamaha rep told me that.

Sounds about right , as Lacquer takes several layers with sanding inbetween coats to get super smooth , then it gets hand buffed to keep swirls out from a machine buffer .
This makes for a super deep finish , looks like your looking into a bucket of dark liquid

Sure, all you would have to do is spank us a little and we'd never realize we were being painted purple.

Wouldn't a sandblaster be better suited?

That there is just cruel and unusual punishment. Can you imagine being interrogated by Barney? Jeez, I'd crack so very quick.

I rode around town once with him. It was part of the annual old car show and I think I just wanted a ride to the beach front so I got a ride in one of the old cars. Two minutes passed before we stopped and there before me I see a big Barney coming toward the car. He gets in with much effort I might add and sits to my left. So the entire, slow, so very slow way to the beach front I had him beside me waving and talking in that Barney voice and kids cheered like crazy. We went all of one mile an hour if that. Behind a marching band and firetrucks.

I'm not sure if my face was purple by the end of that ride but I can only guess what color it was as I remember feeling rather embarrassed. A teenage boy, riding in a car with Barney in parade around town. All I could think was how the heck did this happen and what just happened? I'll never forget that long trip to the beach front that I could have got to faster also without such embarrassment if I had chosen to walk instead.

Best part was at the end, where they parked the cars off to the side. Barney, or the guy who wore his costume was away from the public and took off his mask and still impersonating him with that Barney voice.. Was sweating and grabbed a beer. Looked down at the beer, said "I love you. You love me. We're a happy family with a great big".. He took a big chug of the beer, "Hug and a" Took another chug, "kiss from me to you. won't you say you love me" Drank the last of it, "too".

I thought I'd die laughing. That made up for everything. I still can't watch Barney without remembering that.
