Photoshop has its time and place. It is however not something I use to create doodles. I either once in a while draw by hand or mostly use ms paint. It offers a very limited set of tools and from that I get what I get, not because of a cool filter or new tool I load. Rather quite a bit of time, changing individual blocks.
If you would like to try yourself. Load up ms paint. If you have it anyway. Then on the menu bar click
View:Zoom:Custom to 800% and choose the paint brush and select the smallest block possible. Then make a small pattern or any group of blocks. Then from the menu bar click
View:Zoom:Normal Size to zoom out an see what it looks like.
