Every now and then Jenni and I go out to a cemetary or some other old place and try to see what we can get as far as EVPs or ghostly experiences.

Today we went to an abandoned house that we found out about a little while ago. This place is next to a Wal-mart and there is a ton of land. Last week I ventured over around the fence to take a look and was blown away. We thought it was lived in but Jenni had seen the windows all smashed out. There was no No Trespassing sign so I hoped the fence.

The yard is huge with lots of honeysuckles and giant old trees. The house, we found out, was built in 1825 and is a 3 story victorian Italiate house with a big spire on the top. This used to be a farm and there are several small barns and three living quarters where the farmhands and staff lived.

So I got Jenni to come with me this time and we explored the grounds as well as all the first floor. She wont go upstairs but I went last week. It all seems to be structurally stable though but I was nervous and being very cautious of sounds of anybody else being in there.

The house is party central for the local teens and it is totally smashed up. But we walked around with the digital recorder going just to see if we could catch anything. It's not really all that spooky but there are a couple of places I wouldn't go into. Not without a couple other guys at least.

I am transfering the audio over to the computer now. I think I caught a couple of weird sounds I didn't notice before but I'll have to examine it a little farther. It was fun! I'm going back tomorrow to take pictures and to check out the upstairs.

I've got a couple odd sounding things but they could be anything. I just don't know what they would be. I've got one that's got muffled pings and squalls and another that sounds like a muffled voice but may not be that at all. I don't know but I'm thinking this is neat.

The last time we were at the old cemetery we caught growls and gruff-sounding vocals. No real words though.

The last cemetary one we did I got a loud sounding "HUH?" that I thought was Jenni at first but she was talking right before that sound came through and she sounded alot farther away than that noise was. It sounded like it was right in front of the mic.

Some spooks are just plain hams.

I sent Kris the audio file of the last EVP hunting trip we went on. So far he's the only one here that's heard my voice. He says I sound like Howard Stern. I don't hear it but that's his opinion.

There were three instances where, either before or after I asked a question, there were bizarre sounds. All three times they sounded the same but one was longer than the other. Not voices. More like some kind of wierd electrical interference. But only when I asked questions like "Is there anyone here?"

Strange.

if you have a phone and set it to vibrate, it will affect recordings and make a buzzing sound when someone calls you on it even if it is a few feet away from the mic.

No cell phones for me. And nothing else that makes any noise except for the occassional clicking of the camera. I've got lots of pics and will be posting them soon. I'll be spending the next couple of hours listening to the audio to see what I got. That place is amazing.

I have no idea. It's a beautiful house inside and out. THey left most of their stuff behind too. No furniture but lots of clothes and papers. It looks like they just up and left in the middle of the night.

I also found two huge stacks of roofing slate that would be nice to have. THat's worth a bit, I think.

Slate shingle are real expensive here , because of all the hail . so most houses dont have it here , now wood shakes are on all the high dollar homes here .
I wonder if they are asbestos based slate ? then they are no good .

How would you tell? I guess I could break them into dust, breath it and let you know in about 20 years.

I think if you break one in half and it has cloth like fibers its asbestos , but if it looks like all rock I would think they are alright .
My grandmother has that old asbestos based brick from the late 40s on her house , and it would cost a fortune to have it all taken off and redone
As hazmat has to come bag the whole house and a special team comes in and cleans it all off , then hauls it off for a price too

I dont think it's asbestos as there are alot of slate broken in the yard and it doesn't seem like it has fibers in it. The house has asbestos I think and yeah, it would cost a fortune to get rid of it.

Here's the main staircase. I stood here for a while trying to get some EVPs.

The first time I was in this house I saw this as I was climbing the stairs and I thought, "Dear God, what is behind that door?!" It turns out nothing. But it's still wierd. It says, "I wish I had a troubled childhood so then I'd have an excuse."

Looks like they don`t need an excuse to damage somebody else`s property.
The pics are pretty cool, houses like that would be locked up under heritage protection here.

It sure has some nice wood work too , those stairs are cool .

My mother and I took the kids to a heritage house when they were really young and James refused to go up a set of stairs just like that. I think he was around 2 or 3 and the woman who worked there offered to sit with him so we could go upstair. I knew why he didn`t want to go up once I checked one room in particular....very negative feeling in there.

The only reason why I keep going back there is because there are no No Trespassing signs anywhere to be seen.

Just last night when the storms were coming both Deb and myself here in the living room heard a long moan. It lasted at least 5 seconds and we both heard it clear. It was the stereo-typical ghost moan.

Damn! And EVP without the E. That always makes one comfortable in one's own home, doesn't it?

The other night Jenni and I faked an EVP and sent it to Trallyus and he said it gave him the goosebumos. Sorry buddy. Just fooling around. I sent Kris the three sounds from the first session and I have yet to listen to the second. Maybe he can host them and I can link to them here to see what you all think.

I mentioned in LJ and I like more and more the idea of a EVP site. You could host all kinds of findings. So cool!

Next to the date and time of this post is an attachment in zip format. This is the EVP that has the weird noises that I mentioned before. You'll also hear me ask if there is anybody there that wants to say anything. I ask this right after the weird noises. This happened a total of three times with the same strange noise occuring immediately before my question. One time it occured after my question. I don't know what the noise is but I can say that it wasn't audible when I was there and it only occures when I asked if someone was there that wanted to speak. Judge for yourself.

It sounds like a cross between a feotal heartbeat and someone choking. Creepy ....oh and the beeps are too.

If you can eliminate anything mechanical from the recording process there is something there that is strange.

It's a pure digital recording. No mechanical parts. No electrical interference since the place has no electricity.

Then that's strange indeed.

I just got done reviewing the last EVP hunting session and I found several things. The last one blew me and even Kris away. The first one I found was while I was in the master bedroom after I had laid the recorder down on the floor. I just sat there silently while it recorded. You hear a beeping like before and then a male voice that says a quick and short, "Huh?"

The second one was in the cabin behind the house. I had just said, "Tell me your name," and it was a faint whisper that sounds like, "Mark". After filtering it I can clearly hear mark but it also sounds like there's more before that. Like, "I am Mark". That one is hard to hear clearly so I am leaving that one up in the air.

The third one took the cake! I walked past all the side houses/shacks and into the field where there was an old burned out barn with a rusted tractor in it. I asked a few questions and then walked out of it. Half way across the field on my way back to the house there was, what I originally thought was deep dark and hollow laughter. I kid you not.

This laughter had reverb to it that did not match the tone of the rest of the sounds because it was outside. I sent it to Kris and he checked it out and he said he didn't hear laughter but the words, "You got to see this," or "You got to take me". After listening to it again I definitely hear "You've got to take me" but really, it could be saying anything, or it could just be laughter. All I know is that I didn't hear that when I was out there or I would've run through that field screaming.

This one is me asking, "What is your name?" and if you listen closely you will definitely hear "Mark". If you listen even closer I think you may hear, "I am Mark." Boost the volume with any sound editor to see if you can hear it better. This one is unaltered.

This is the laugh that I heard in the field. It may be a laugh or the words, "You've got to take me." I can hear it either way. These kinds of things are very subjective but I think the important thing is not what exactly was said, but that what is being heard was not heard at the time of the recording.

Wesley, we had something strange happen a few weeks ago. Someone had given me an easy button as a gag gift. It sits on one of our counters. It went off all by itself and really spooked my wife out. I was sitting on the couch later that night and it went off again. Last week my wife fell asleep in the recliner and thought she heard water running and turned around and there was no one at the sink, but the next morning when she questioned me about it, I looked and a pot I had left soaking had been dumped out and was sitting empty. If that isn't bad enough I was laying on the couch the other night and I distinctly heard a woman call my name as if there was something wrong and wanted me to be alerted. My wife had not said a word. I am not so sure I want to know what is going on.

Ya know after seeing the movie white Noise, I think I would loose it if I heard something bad on the tape.

White Noise was a pretty good movie but it got off track from reality. As far as I know, no EVP researcher has ever been hurt. Even if they got the "get out" messages!

That is really weird! I would try to get some EVPs if I were you. Just get any kind of recorder, even your PC Sound Recorder will do. Set up some tests too. Like fill up another pot and tell your wife to not touch it and wait and see if it empties again. Experiment with it. This stuff is really strange and unsettling but it's harmless.

The recording is interesting and harmless but never think that spirits are all harmless. They can be angry or just mischievious, caution when messing with them is a good idea.

The whole concept of spiritual energy is beyond fasinating. I have always been science minded and would welcome the chance to be able to explain this. At one time a few years ago after the UFO incident, I thought I was going insane. Seeing things that you can't explain really takes a toll on your pyche. I would want to be carefull with this because, if I heard something that I couldn't explain, I would spend an enormous amount of time trying to figure it out. Obesssed would be mild in comparrison.

After thousands of years of this type of thing, no one has much more than theory's as of yet to explain it all. You could spend that time, but you might not know much more than we already do...

To undestand what happens in EVP recordings or anything else really mysterious would mean to have a deeper understanding of the functioning of our universe. I don't think this stuff is really supernatural. It's only natural in a way that we don't understand yet. We don't understand hardly anything about the universe and with science now begining to gain proof of extra dimensions and alternate universes it's only a matter of time before EVPs or ghosts or UFOs are explained away as things bleeding over from another universe into ours for a brief moment.

I'm not sure exactly what time... Or if at all really... But I've been told that someone is coming out here tonight to walk the old cemetery looking for EVP's. If so I may tag along with the video camera.

I found a staircase to the basement at that house last week but it was too dark to see down there. I'm gonna bring a flashlight and sit down there for a while with my recorder playing. I heard rumors of slaves being beaten down there back in the day.

First listen and I haven't heard anything but breathing and a grunt or two. Although there was too many people out there talking so I need to eliminate those. If so I may have something.

Video wise I caught what looked like falling sparks off of a grave marker. No one was touching it at the time. And another one was caught falling away from the stone a few seconds later.

We saw a shadow following us and I saw a red dot of light off in the woods around us.

There was more people there than I thought there should be. Izzy was there and took point trying to talk "them" into showing up. His wife was too, and Eric was the one who brought the DVR. His wife, plus their friend, my step-son, and myself.

It was a bit tough to coordinate all of that and there is a lot of walking sounds recorded. Plus shuffling of the DVR.

I need to listen closer to the audio on the camera too. That could be something.

Oh, the friend and my step-son was like Mr. Chicken after awhile. They blamed the cold but...

Maybe it had something to do with the rumor about Rosie O Donnell's Ghost and her new lesbian lover "Ms T"

I wonder if you could hang the recorders somehow to eliminate the working sounds. I am picturing little air deriggables that can be manuvered into a potition and parked, then turned back on and flown back to base and down load the info.

I think a external mic is reccomended. A lapel model would be awesome there.

Izzy, holding the light for me, was showing how this stone marked someone's wife but we couldn't find his marker.



But as I filmed I saw what looked like sparks from behind the stone coming towards the front.









Izzy didn't see them but I caught it in the viewer. We went looking where I thought they came from and I filmed another ine there, but the computer keeps skipping that frame so I don't have a cap of that one yet. Still working!

I'm thinking I need to burn a DVD and play it from there to get that second spark event to capture.

Weird picture. Tell Dizzy to learn how to hold a flash light and a cocktail glass with out spilling and keeping the light steady.

That old house that I caught those EVPs at is going to be the scene of the new video that my buddy's band OATH is going to be shot in. I told him about it, showed him the pics I took and had him listen to my EVPs and both him and his wife were freaked out. He took a walk through of that house and he said, "Oh this is the PLACE! We're doing the video here for sure."

Sweet! I'll never forget when we went to one of our cemetaries and we heard a knocking sound from inside one of the tombs.

The only thing I could figure was that it was due to expansion and contraction but I dont know how much marble does that in summer heat.

I saw a few things too... I need to run the tape and re-capture it again. My first try was corrupt. I think that the DVR recordings are mostly unusable for the shuffling noises and talking near by...

But anyway Isbo gave me permission for this shot. You can see Izzy and the light.

One thing I noticed is how the picture blurred around me and everything... my ear and hair looks really distorted, bent inwards, and it's heading right at my hand, and the tombstone.

That was right after I'd called her name. The next few frames you had were the ones from above, where there are sparks falling around the gravestone. Kinda weird.

Sometime this weekend (if I'm allowed time) I'm going to recheck my video card connections and re-capture the footage. If anything ends up better looking I'll post it and check the audio too!

I agree, who knows the effects of external electromagnetic fields and radiation on our brain.. The government, that's who! They are making us see all the ghosts, to what purpose I'm not sure. Perhaps it is so that we don't dare question their authority. Indeed, it's a great plan, if only. Well, if only.. They weren't so beautiful. I mean, there are ghosts of iPods too you know.

Technology ghosts? Then is there a Beta VCR spirit out there?

I don't buy into alot of the orb photos but some are genuine. But they are not proof of ghosts. Just proof of concentrated energies. As far as there not being any ghosts all I have to say is your opinion would change if you had personal encounters. I've posted my experiences as a child living in Heath, MA and we weren't the only house with poltergeist encounters. My encounters were very vivid, very visual and audible and experienced by more than just one person.

James and I were talking about this on Saturday night after I wouldn't let him change the channel from Most Haunted. He said he doesn't think we have ghosts or anything here but that my mother's house definately does. He believes there's a little girl there and when I was young I used to see a woman regularly and I think now that it was my great grandmother watching out for me.

He refused to believe that a Heritage listed inn in our home city was haunted until I reminded him that he was only about 3 or 4 and no amount of coaxing would make him go upstairs. He remembered staying in the dining room with the women who worked there but nothing more. One of the rooms upstairs was not a happy place.

The cemetery isn't that peaceful. That's why people search there. I may have told this story before but those old gravestones from before the civil war are the landowners who used to live here, and their slaves were buried closer to my house unmarked. That's what the activity is about I think.

I was just told minutes ago this morning that there are more gravestones found out in the woods by my step-son and his friend yesterday. These are supposed to be straight behind the house. He's going to take daytime pictures today, he says.

So when are you going to post the pics?
