Libby just called: the little one has an upper respiratory infection and they have antibiotics for him, and the other 2 are very healthy. We are all relieved. We've been feeding him chicken broth, and he loves it. Chicken broth has worked magic on other sick kitties we've had.

The little one, who yesterday was so wobbly and weak, came out meowing to Libby this morning! He demanded food and cuddles, which is a big change. Of course the other 2 kittens are as rowdy and noisy as ever.

You are a special person Melanie, taking in helpless little critters like that. Its a pleasure knowing you. Shouse and I and a few of the others have decided to move in with you. And let you take care of us. We'll discuss the menu later.

Thats why we are bringing spraytech and Kris. The menu will have to be kicked up a bit. We'll discuss it.

Yes, Joseph, there is room for you and a nurse. BUT you have to cook the oatmeal for the other slaves..er..guests.

I'm glad to hear ur careing for the kittens.They r very cute. Shouse takes his oatmeal cold right out of the frig.I know this really is a nasty thing to do to oatmeal. I would appreiate any chores u can teach him to do.

Warm, and they love it. Right now he is on vitamin-enriched cat food we got at the vets. He's a good little eater, but still not as strong as the other 2.

The sick little kitten died this afternoon. We thought he was doing so well, then he just wouldn't eat and it was hard for Libby to wake him up for his medicine. She went to check him and he's been gone a little while.  We buried him out back. It's really sad.....but he was loved, and the other 2 are just as healthy & rowdy as ever. And they already have homes!

The kittens are healthy & frisky! THey eat cat food, use a litter box, and play with paper wads if they are tiny. And they like to cuddle. Libby is getting really attached to the boy kitten, however. They should be ready to go to new homes, at least the girl, in about 10 days we think.

The mother cat ran away when we opened the door to the porch to take out some trash. She hasn't returned. Now the kittens are in Libby's room, separate from the other cats until we get em back to the vet this week for a checkup.
I'm not so sure the girl kitten has a home. The oldest daughter in that house has a bad habit of SLAMMING doors, bad when a tiny frisky kitten is there. Plus Amy (the mother in the house) doesn't think tiny kittens need special food, even when I pointed out that kittens have different needs from adult cats. She was very scornful of the thought, which really really p*sses me off!
So we may be keeping her. I'm kind of attached to the little boy, too, but I'm not so sure we can have 4 cats down here, in addition to the 5 upstairs -- all indoor cats, mind you.
It's a big house, but not THAT big!

Er...we're keeping them. We can't help it. THe girl is Annie, the boy is Romy. THey are such good little kitties! THey "talk" a lot, Annie has a nice loud purr and Romy is so sweet. They let people hold them, keep themselves very clean, use the litter box, and REALLY want to play with our cat Shadow. We're taking them to the vet this weekend so if all is well (and it would break our hearts if it isn't!!) they can mingle.

I'll try & get some pictures soon. The kittens are little stinkers, into everything. Shadow is a wonderful big brother to them: he grooms them, plays with them, meows at them when they are upset.
Annie is the friendliest kitten I have ever seen, she will go up to anyone. Romy is a little shyer but if you give him time he come up to you. We will have to get him spayed next moth, he's almost full-sized, is really agressive to Annie, and is starting to spray already. I think we will wait another month to get Annie fixed, she's still very tiny.
