Doctor Who wins Broadcast Award Show wins Best Drama Series Last night Doctor Who beat Shameless and Blackpool to win the prestigious 2006 Broadcast Award for Best Drama Series or Serial. This adds to Doctor Who's successes at the National Television Awards, TV Moments, and the BBC 2005 Drama Awards. It was a good night for the BBC, winning seven Broadcast Awards in total.

Dr Who Fans Go Crazy For The ‘Ultimate’ Toy Sci-fi fans are dribbling at the prospect of owning the definitive Dr Who toy – a brand new £2,000 full-size Dalek replica. There has been a stampede to reserve the official BBC models – which scoot about on wheels and have been crafted using moulds from a real Dalek used used in the latest series of the show starring Billie Piper and David Tenant. The 5’5’’ models will not be ready until April – but the toy-makers have already seen a huge demand for the replicas and have been flooded with £500 deposits. There will also be the option of a model which screams ‘Exterminate!’ and has working lights. It will be £500 more. The team at Planet earth, who are making the model have promised to the satr that it will be ‘stunning.’ A spokeswoman said: ‘Parts have been painstakingly sourced and meticulous work has been done to produce a stunning replica.” Managing Director Ian Clarke added: “I think the model is the ultimate toy, although it’s actually a big ornament.” “It’s desirable because it’s such a big thing. It’s really impressive.” “We have received countless deposits. People just want to say they own a Dalek.”

Myles set for Doctor Who spin-off Welsh actress Eve Myles is to play the lead female role in the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood. Myles will play the role of Gwen opposite John Barrowman in the 13-part serial, to be screened later this year. The drama, penned by Russell T Davies, will chart the adventures of a renegade team of crime investigators who solve both human and alien mysteries. Davies, who wrote the comeback series of Doctor Who, said he created the role specially for Myles. The new series, which centres around the character of Captain Jack, is due to begin filming in the summer and will be screened on BBC One and BBC Three.

"Who" starts on Sci-fi in a couple of weeks....but what annoys me is that it is going in the timeslot held now by "Stargate: Atlantis". I guess they wanted to give "Who" the plum slot between "SG-1" and "Battlestar Galactica" but I don't like that "Atlantis" is getting shoved to the side for at least three months.

Networks do this all the time MK They will put new shows in prime time spots to get folks hooked on the series and then later move the show around if the show is not a hit I watch stargate atlantis on normal tv so it does not hurt me to much I did not get in to atlantis much compared to sg1

If you like the original Doctor that started the Doctor Who series you may want to pre-order Doctor Who: The Beginning from Amazon as they have it at 30% off at the moment It features An Unearthly Child, The Daleks (sometimes called "The Dead Planet"), and Edge of Destruction In addition to these three stories, you get an alternate (unscreened) version of the pilot for the show, which shows subtle differences from what was finally decided on for episode one of An Unearthly Child. You also get commentaries and a number of documentaries on these episodes, as well as how the show itself got started. To top it all off, these 40+ year old episodes have been lovingly restored to pristine condition by the RT. Sounds like it will be good Almost forgot it ships March 28th

I've already seen the last half of the season, and it is excellent. I get to pick up the eps I missed now! The only complaint I have is that rather a lot of the season takes place on Earth.
BTW...from looking at the schedule, "Who" is on at 8PM NEXT Friday with a repeat (episode 2,"The End Of The World"), and a new ep at 9PM. The pilot episode "Rose" will not be repeated. After that, it appears there will be just one new episode at 9PM each Friday, bracketed by "Stargate SG-1" at 8PM and "Stargate Atlantis" at 10PM. Interesting that "Battlestar Galactica" is getting hiatus for the duration of "Dr. Who".

Even thought I watched all episodes of Doctor Who already there were still scenes that surprised me Also I seem to notice alot of the background noise was muted or keyed down in the tv series and the voices brought out more. I kind of missed the music and only noticed it on the bridge scene in the episode called "Rose" Anyway, I hope everyone remembered to watch it or tivo it

It was interesting, albeit conspicuously bizarre..
