Did anyone else find it to be boring?
I watched it on DVD last night... Ick.
Maybe I'll try to watch it again later.

I got it on my netflix list but I have the entire Firefly series on there first. I wanna get the whole back story before I watch the movie.

It apparently landed with such a dull thud that Whedon has said he considers the "Firefly/Serenity" story closed and done with and behind him.

Just watched it. Not as bad as I heard it was. Typical problem of taking a 1 hour TV show and turning it into a 2 hour movie. They have to use lots of filler and that takes away from the story.

The reevers reminded me my step sons and their families are coming for dinner tomorrow.

I really liked it a lot.

If by shunned you mean knocked out with some kind of drug and tied up at the townsquare wearing nothing but a tutu, no.. We'd never think of doing that.

I just thought I would chime in that I really liked the serenity movie. It really helped that I had watched the entire season of firefly first though to get an idea of who the reavers were or i would have thought the movie was bad as well since they dont build them up in the movie like they do in the tv series

Also if joss did say this was the end of the firefly series it would be mostly his fault for trying to tie up lose ends from the tv series and not making any new mysteries that would make people want to watch more of the series to find out what happened.

Also it did not help that he killed off 2 of the main characters from the tv series. Also the captain was out of character in my oppinion when he threatened to shoot the whole crew if they did not do as he had ordered.

Really out of sync with my memories of how he would react to similar circumstances in the tv series.

I would love to see more of the series in the future still and dont think joss should count the series out due to him thinking it was not well recieved at the box office. I think he was trying to give to much away at once and the firefly series is better viewed in hour long viginettes where telling the story is a prime factor rather then a 2 or 3 hour action packed episode that reveals to much and ties up all the loose ends and makes no new mysteries.

In other words the movie should not stand on it's own and folks should watch all the previous stuff from the tv series before diving in to the movie.

One more thing I missed in the movie that made it more sterile to me was the inside jokes and comments that they used in the past on the tv series. In some of the old tv series they would make comments about stuff that happened in previous episodes and it made the series more human and feel like their universe was alive since they remembered stuff from past episodes

I would hate to watch the movie without having watched the tv series first as I would have asked myself why did he go back to help that companion girl when he knows its a trap? And who the heck is this sheperd to him anyway as both of them were just there and would only confuse new viewers since theyre past was almost glossed over.

At one point Joss was thinking of putting out a monthly dvd to subscribers on a subscription basis and was asking what the price should be. I think he got the idea from the series called 24.

I just got the Firefly series and I'll be watching that tomorrow.

You should like it. I really enjoyed the the never before aired episodes.

I really liked Firefly and the movie Serenity. I wish I could afford to buy the Series on DVD...I guess I just have to be satisfied with the Serenity Movie.

They finally aired those two episodes on Sci-fi channel that were not seen during it's TV run. They were great!

Where there more then those two episodes on DVD not seen on TV?

By the way, the series has 14 episodes in it and only 3 episodes were never shown . They are The Message and Heart of Gold and Trash

Just finished disc 3. Again, very cool.

$20 at Walmart in a special display with a bunch of other shows like Buffy, Angel, Dark Angel and others mostly just first first seasons but I think they had both seasons of Dark Angel.

I finally got Serentiy in the mail so I'll be watching that tomorrow morning.

Yes, unless it's the copy I sent back that was all scratched with sandpaper.

I finally watched Serenity and I really really liked it. I am very glad they got the chance to wrap up the loose ends and explain a few things as well. The Reavers were very cool. And yet, it was also sad.

Did you cry? Just a little? Huh, huh..

Only because Dizzy pulled his finger too hard.

No, no crying although the ending was a little sad.

A new classic

I loved the outtakes. The guys that play Mal and Wash are hillarious. I liked the first outtake where Mal looks at the screen and says, "I'm on TV" and the director says, "This is a movie idiot."

And the improvised flying scene where Mal keeps telling Wash, "Turn left. Turn left. Turn left."
And Wash says, "You wanna fly this thing? I'll pull this spaceship over right now. I don't need a back spaceship driver." Then he gets up and says he'll be in his bunk.

The outtakes are way better then some movies I have seen.

Jayne singing the song of Jayne with the knitted cap his mother made for him. Hillarious.

The serenity dvd was most enjoyable.

Serenity is going to be Universal's very first film to be released on HD-DVD. Good trivia to know for later on.

I just watched the movie for probably the 4th time Sunday.

Watched it with the commentary on, now off to watch it without.
