Not at all, just hoping it isn't. Being in the design field, I know that with each new product there comes a time when you have to "Shoot the engineer" so to speak. Spending too much time on something can eventually design flaws into the product that were intended to be improvements.
I hope as much as anyone that its a "winner". Unfortunately at this point, only time will tell. I never bought Windows ME, but I know plenty who did. That's enough to make me cross my fingers every time a new OS comes out.

From some things I've read it is going to be so very restrictive as far as the things it'll let you do with your media and what you can install or uninstall that I don't know if I'll go with Vista for some time.
There is also going to be some monthly subscription to some MS security service that is just plain ole stupid. Pay a monthly fee for MS to secure your computer from Windows flaws? BUILD SECURITY INTO YOUR OS! If these security flaws aren't there by design then they are there by accident and what makes anyone think that the subcription will be any more secure than the OS? If it's not by accident, it's by design so they can make more money.

well, like a wise man once said,
"If linux were the mainstream OS, it would be filled with viruses too" over 80% of the population use Windows, that's why its so insecure.. while FreeBSD (OS X) only carries about 15% or so, if the tables were turned, OS X would be filled with security flaws.
if its one thing I've learned from my old hacker days back before windows ever existed, its this:
no OS is completely secure, no OS is compltely virus free,
its just that, the mainstream prefers Windows, so that's what they attack the most, because they know how stupid some newbies can be about these things, its all about politics, always has been since day one, and always will be. so why worry about it?... Long as they don't force monthly fees on people, I'll be happy with whatever they put out probably. either that or you'll just be forced to put your big girl panties on and deal with it. hehehe

I wonder if he tryed using shift+Del to skip those steps like it does in Windows XP when you want to get rid of something permanently without sending it to the recycle bin?

News source: neowin.net"The day that most Windows community enthusiasts who have been following the beta program for Windows Vista, but haven't been part of it has arrived in the form of Windows Vista Customer Preview Program. Microsoft has made available Beta 2, for download and shipping. Shipping includes RC1 when it becomes available later this year. Microsoft have put together a website that explains in detail how the program works, if your current system is capable of running Windows Vista and includes Community related websites as well as a full list of features we can expect when Vista ships. In our earlier announcement of Vista Beta 2 availability, there was no information on how to obtain a product key. This can be done by using the download link here. After you select your country you will be taken to a registration page, after which a key will be mailed to you."... Windows Vista Beta 2 ProgramDon't know if I'll try out the beta or not, but I'm downloading a copy anyway. I have a couple of extra computers at work that could probably run it. The site is busy now so I'll keep trying today to see if I can get it.

In case you missed it, pcpitstop has a vista readiness test at http://pcpitstop.com/vistaready/default.asp looks like i need 512 more megs or more of ram to use it on my fast computer It does not test video cards yet but I read you need at least 128 meg video card or more for the best experiance.

Havn't tested my machine yet. Probably keep XP on this one. I have a crippled machine at work that I've got in mind. It needs a video card and a power supply, but I think it my just run it. Finally getting it. If the page won't load for you, clear your cache, then try this link: http://download.windowsvista.com/preview/beta2/en/x86/download.htm You'll still have to get a key from the other page above though.
