Thou shalt not promote religion
Even in its divisions, the court redrew the important boundary: Government doesn't have to reject religion, but it can't be used as an instrument of religion. Given the expectation of changes to come on the court, this is unlikely to be its final word on exactly where that boundary lies.

Personally I think there is nothing wrong with the 10 commandments in the court house as long as they are going to allow ALL religions equal space to display what they want. But then the argument will be such and such religion has a more prominent viewing area. The arguments will never cease besides what about the people who don't believe in anything?

The best solution: Pull that stuff out and hang it somewhere it is less likely to offend. I'm sure some of these people who are fighting to keep the 10 commandments in the court house are the same people who attend church intermittely and/or are in the bar cussing Saturday night then at church Sunday with profanity coming out of there mouths less than 10 minutes after leaving church. I think this is more of an issue that some people just like to be contentious.

I don't think it is over. Alabama's judicial ethics panel removed Chief Justice Roy Moore from office over something very similar to what is now legal in Texas.

I think now Kentucky is going to have a bunch of the same thing as Texas. It will be much more "in their face" than that thing was hanging on the wall. I heard one guy last night say they will copy that thing the Supreme Court has if that is what it takes.

Some of these people are really good people. And will do what ever it takes to bring God back into the public.

I wish I had that email I got so long ago to post here It said something like if the government politicians want to keep religion out of everything , then maybe we should not let them celebrate or take off work due to religious holidays

I had it when they removed the 10 Commandments from that judges courthouse and it really made a lot of sense

It had alot of logic like that in it that made one think

What about the people who don't want God pushed upon them. Religion is a belief and we live in a country where we are still free to choice what we want to believe or not believe.

I don't think they were pushing anything on anyone. Most people never read all that stuff on walls. They have stuff there about drugs too. They are not pushing drugs there.

They should know not to believe everything they read anyway!

I've seen a similiar email. I agree to alot of it. But I'm trying to see both sides of the issue here.
I realize there are people who want to keep God in public. Heck our money says "In God We Trust" But one of the core reasons our country was founded was religious freedom and I am trying to see the people whose religious beliefs differ point of view here.

You mean they are posting stuff to promote drug usage? I highly doubt it.

If thats the issue than why does it need to be displayed in the first place. I think alot of the people arguing this issue are arguing it just to argue. Lets see how many of these people really attend church on a regular basis and not just religious holidays.

No no I never said anything like that!! I just said they have lots of stuff on the walls. Even cattle for sale posters. That is not making people eat meat. I don't care either way. But the more stink they stir the more everyone will see and hear what they fear so much. They don't make ya read any of that stuff. I think it is just too silly.

I know a bunch of them do. But maybe some places just have more people that go to church than others. We have one goof in one of the counties that started this whole dang stink. But he wanted to start it. So now he can live with it.

Freedom of religion is just that Amy. Not everyone is a Christian , Budhist, Etc. Some folks religion is they have no religion. I don't say one religion is better then the other as I myself have a hodge podge of religious beliefs I have built up over the years.

I personally do not care what religion people practice as long as they respect my rights and don't try to push their religion down my throat, i wont try pushing mine down theirs.

I do not even know if our courthouse has them or not. I don't care either way. But they have to pass one or more churches to get to it. And they always have some message out in front of the churches on those big boards.

I agree Shouse My personal belief is that I can worship the big guy at home without seeing a middleman known as a pastor or preacher ,etc.

I know folks that supposedly go to church and one used to only go for the women and the other used to act like she knew everything and would talk down to me when I tryed talking religion with her.

Yep. I guess I just wonder what they think will jump out and get them if they read something. I know people who read the Bible and try hard and still don't get it. Ya would think they was grabbing people out in hall and making them read!! It is just too damn funny to me.

Our founding fathers were deist's not theist's , their belief was " The laws of nature" and " Nature's GOD" ...........Not on Christianity .

More on Common sense , which has flown right out the window......I am so sick of this Political Correct BS , to please evey god damn persons feelings, if you dont like it shut the F up and go about your business. !!!!!

If you want to believe in different religion thats fine , but I dont see why america has to change just for them . Hell why not plant a big assed BUDDA in front of the Court House ........LOL
I have to drive by a Buddists temple when I go to work , thats fine and dandy, They leave me alone and I leave them alone , see how it works
I could just as easley say " Hey , I want you to put up a cross next to your Budda because your religion is bothering me " see how changing our courts for others sounds ?? Pretty lame if you ask me !

These people all are acting like their very life depends on getting their way. Some are so mad they just can't stand it. And then you have the the weeping ones.

In one county both sides are getting a lot of TV face time. And in that county the "one" guy who complained about his courthouse is loving it. I wonder if he knows how long he will be paying for his "win". I hope his house don't catch fire. It may be hard to get anyone to help him. Their fire guys are volunteers. I think he will have to move after this.

He may need to do that. The word is already on the "redneck grapevine" that that guy "don't believe in God". He may wish that thing had stayed on the wall. Right now it is across the street in the VFW. And some of them want him to try to take er down from there. They said on the 6:00PM news "someday we will take it back to the courthouse."

Alot of logic that went against what the higher-ups were thinking? Sounds like something right up my alley!
