I have hours and hours and hours of MST3K tapes and I now have a DVD recorder. I should put them all on DVD. I could get 4 per disc and retain decent quality.

Have you tried other brands of media? It could be that, it's not an overheating issue as the same amount of heat should be generated either playing or recording. It could be a firmware issue as well. When I start backing up my MST3K library I'll let you know and see if you want copies.

I've been copying some of my library of MST3K to DVD with the settop DVD recorder with some good success. So far I've finished The Deadly Mantis, She Creature, Mole People and I'm recording The Thing That Couldn't Die. God it's good to watch these again. It just makes me wish I could've started recording these long ago as I only have the last two seasons.

If you can rewind a tape and forward fast it without playing it then I would check the belts. Usally if you cant rewind a tape and it shuts off while rewinding, its time to buy a new vcr or get a tape rewinder
actually, I have a similar problem with my fairly recient VHS player/recorder. On some tapes, it will rewind/fast forward ok, but then when you press "play" the tape will be too tight, or something, and it just shuts off. The other VCR's in my house will play the same tape just fine, but the one in the bedroom if the tape is too tight, the VCR will just shutdown and sometimes I'll have to turn it back on 2-3 times to get it to play. strange eh?
One thing I don't like about these new VCR's, you can't "dub" movies anymoore from VCR to VCR, otherwise the sound doesn't come out in the copy I have this very OLD VCR laying around from the early 80's for that very reason, its the only VCR I have that will let me "dub" a movie, but its not a 4 head like the others in the house are
yes I still "dub" movies from time to time because moving from VCR to CD just doesn't work for me ever.

Good spoof of Chris Crocker. Look at the Chris Crocker and Chewie one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztRJYzYH6HE&mode=related&search=Someone just needs to amputate Crocker's head but I thought Chewie had alot to add to the debate.

I just got this email tonight. Some of you may find this interesting:
We are excited to announce some very big news for MST3K fans.
But first, some housekeeping: For reasons that will become apparent, we need to ask those of you who reach our site using the URL MST3K.com to update your bookmarks, and please use the URL MST3Kinfo.com. Many of you use this URL already, but if you get to us via MST3K.com, starting next week you won't be able to anymore.
The reason is that, next week, MST3K.com will become a new destination for a brand new site, created by a reconstituted, relaunched Best Brains Inc.
Or, as they put it when they contacted us about this: "The 'Bots are Back!"
Beginning November 5th, BBI will be launching its very own website at MST3K.com. The site will feature brand-new animated adventures of Crow, Tom Servo and Gypsy. We're told the goal is to have one new adventure each week (though "some settling may occur with shipping," they added). The Web site will also feature work from the original series (which BBI is now calling "the legacy series"), behind-the-scenes footage and other material culled from the BBI vault.
Also on the site will be BBI's first online store, featuring all new merchandise. (This means that the BBI merchandise section of our site will be taken down. )
The new adventures of the 'bots are being produced by BBI President, MST3K series writer and the returning voice of Gypsy, Jim Mallon. He will be joined on this new experiment by veteran MST3K series writer and performer Paul Chaplin (who will be on the writing team and will be providing the voice of Crow) along with new writing and performing talent.
We know this is going generate a lot of buzz among the fan base and you all probably have a zillion questions. So do we. Many will be answered on Nov. 5th. More will be answered soon after. Jim told us that the site and project "are going to grow in a very organic fashion and we're going to let the characters and the story take us in the direction they want to take us." We at Satellite News can't wait to see it.
What does this mean for Satellite News? The biggest change is that we will no longer be known as "The official MST3K Web site," and this marks the end of our 10-year arrangement with Best Brains as the official voice of the old Info Club. Jim has, however, declared us, "The Official MST3K fan site." We still have close ties to BBI and whenever they have news you'll see it here first, along with news about the rest of the former cast and crew members of our favorite cowtown puppet show. For us, this is just one more topic in the growing list of MST3K-related news it's our job to report.
We have some interesting plans for our site as well, so be sure to stay tuned!
Items of MST3K news may be duplicated or reposted, as long as Satellite News (MST3Kinfo.com) is cited as the source. --^----------------------------------------------------------------

More news today: After we posted that the 'bots are back, you may have asked yourself, "We know what Mike, Kevin, Bill, Jim and Paul are doing, but what about Joel, Trace, Frank, Mary Jo and Josh?" Well, here's your answer...
Cinematic Titanic
So what is Cinematic Titanic? In a nutshell, Joel and the gang have secured the rights to 12 bad, MST-quality films. They will all be writing and performing new riffs, with silhouettes. The plan is to offer downloadable and burnable DVDs through the site -- sort of one-stop shopping.
We're told that while there will be an overall premise to the show, there won't be many "host segments" or the like. And the silhouette won't be of people in theater seats. Instead, it will consist of people up on scaffolding on the side of the screen...as seen in the Cinematic Titanic logo.
The date and title of the first release have yet to be announced, but you can be the first to recieve the news by signing up for the Cinematic Titanic newsletter. Just visit Cinematic Titanic for more information.

From Joel and the Titanic staff today: I’m glad to report that the DVD of “Cinematic Titanic’s The Oozing Skull” has been delivered to the homes of the some of the early buyers, and the reviews are great– so far… I don’t want to jinx it or anything… so I’ll just whisper.
Now that our creation/production/distribution/web machine seems to be functioning, we here at Cinematic Titanic are in “Publicity Mode”. It’s now our job to get the word out to everyone that our new feature length DVD is ready and waiting to be purchased, enjoyed and ultimately appraised by you and your wisecrack loving friends and family!
If you know people that are MST3K-curious, please let them know this– that the original cast of the show has landed here and are making a shimmery new movie riffing experience. If you’re a member of the press and are interested in more info or would like to do an article or review, please get in touch with our press contact, Josh Opitz at joshopitz@gmail.com — he’ll treat you right! Our press release is located in “The News” section for you do-it-yo-selfers. Start spreading the news…

New news from the Titanic: CINEMATIC TITANIC LIVE IN L.A. We've been invited by the LA Film Festival to perform live at the Ford Amphitheater on June 21st. We're thrilled to be able to play this beautiful venue (1,241 seats in a beautiful outdoor setting in the Hollywood Hills). We'll be riffing live to Roger Corman's "The Wasp Woman" which we premiered last month in Dallas to reviews like the following: They performed to the tune of Roger Corman's The Wasp Woman, and folks, I've got to tell you, I haven't laughed that hard (or that often) in a long time. The experience of being in the theater while these wiseacres are doing their thing is something I will treasure always." - John P. Meyer - Pegasus News - Dallas Ft. Worth For ticket and show info for the LA show visit: http://www.lafilmfest.com/Tickets for individual events go on sale June 2nd.
