12.7 liter Detroit Diesel 470/430 horse power with a ten over tranny. We prefer the 16 liter Cummins but they couldn't wait. This one was made in Mexico instead of Windsor, Canada.

Well broken in. Only has had two air dryer rebuilds, a new starter and a blown turbo that died in Frankenmuth, MI.

I always liked a Cummins best too. But even years ago it seemed like a lot of companies were buying Detroits. I think they like to give drivers just what they don't want.

That legal part was a problem for me at times when I was in my 20s. I had 2 log books sometimes. Even had to change placards on some runs. I would not last 2 weeks with all this stuff you have to do now.

I know. When I worked the security gig I had to stare at a bunch of them in the adjacent lot. I miss meeting all the different truck drivers and hearing different accents and stories of the road.

Isn't that plant in Toledo? I had grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins from Toledo and I kind of remember that. Lost track with cousins there except I think one lives in Delta, OH.............I think.

That's Toledo. Delta is only a half hour away and Toledo is an hour.

If I remember right Uncle Tenoose lived in Toledo.

I'm trading in the white truck after 5 years and getting a big baby blue road truck. Starting next week I will be in Baltimore Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays every week and should be home each night after delivery out there. I'll try to get some decent pictures of the beast.

How far away is Baltimore from you Harold?

I like a road truck. I like having my hotel room with me everywhere I go.

9 hours. I'm supposed to get 500 miles each day. 3,000 each week. Leave early on Sunday and should be done Friday night.

As far as road trucks go, I'd rather have a daycab and be home every day. But this is the best that can be done for now and I should also make an extra 15 grand a year if I stay at that pace. I'll have the option of doing less later in the fall. Right now it's all about the money.

I don't see money much anymore either. But then again I use my debt card more and I have direct deposit.

I have direct deposit too. But just not enough direct deposit to do what I need.

That stinks. I do think with debit and credit cards and direct deposit. More and more people are carrying less cash on hand. Its also safer to carry less cash.

If I do get mugged I will be in trouble. They will hurt me because I will have nothing for them to take. I have the direct deposit, I write two, sometimes three checks a month. I pay everything else on the puter.

After a year and three months along with 175,000 fun filled miles later I'm being issued a new unit. A 2007 9400i cornbinder with a bad 500 Cummins, super single drives, and a Nite System AC/heater thingy to save on excessive idling. I'll be able to run circles around this old truck that has a 435 Cummins and get a half a mile or better fuel economy to boot.

I'll be moving in Saturday afternoon after the boys football scrimmage.
