COOL more tools ................how are you going to weld all your pieces together ??? Looks like a nice TIG is in order , or do you already have a stick welder ? What thickness you going to use 1/4 " or 1/2 " Do you have a box blade for it ? or are you going to make one of those too?

Just fired it up tonight. I have an old 3-point blade I can scavenge off of or I have been considering just fabbing the whole thing from scratch with new steel. I could save some weight that way If I use some 1/4" plate and would only use it to push snow. No driveway grading, I think. Not too sure yet. I'm trying to figure out the adjustable pivot point to angle the blade. I also want to make as many mechanical connections as possible along with the welding. I hope the 3/4 and one inch drill bits hold out, I just got the big bits last weekend. I got the largest welding and cutting tips they had and I'm going to brush up on my gas welding. Haven't done any of that since VO-AG in high school. I'm trying to avoid getting any electric welders for now since I don't have any 50 amp outlets yet. I don't care for the 120 volt stuff when I know what 240 can do. I was surprised with the cost this time. I figured I could get everything for $300-$400 and it was twice that after buying the tanks and a tank cart that only cost half of what one from Sears would have cost. I got check valves/flash arrestors for both ends of the hoses with the way that Lisa likes to break things. She wants to learn what you can do with a little heat. The brand is www.concoa.com. They used to be called Airco until they became employee owned. I've used Airco and Harris before this.

WOW , thats going to be some serious gas welding on that size plate, I have welded 3/16th but nothing thicker.
You dont have one of those small stick welder units ? 110v would work really well for that size plate , you would get a deeper penetration on the metal for a stronger weld . Be faster too as your going to really use up the oxy/ace real quick with that thick plate .

I'd either have to truck the tractor to Kansas or truck in Mister Spraytech to my barn. I don't know if I could afford to do that. I just picked up $700.00 worth of new steel today. I'm having my brother get some scrap from his job so I can practice my gas welding and cutting. Man! Did I get myself an expensive hobby!

Hey Harold , When you have 25K in the tractor , and still not finished , then you have an expensive hobby .....LOL I will paint it for free , but it will be in the colors and style of MY choice , like it or not And there is no better feeling then a molten ball of steel fall into your shoe

do your rigs have the sanders/salter pods just in front of the driving wheels ? I remember way back when ( 1970's ) I lived in Oregon , their trucks had those .

How much snow do you have to plow that it would break a serious welding job? How much force does a weld usually withstand?
