We got a free dresser and are refinishing it and giving it a distressed look to it. I had to securely fasten the top down to the base because it was lifting up because of a piece of split wood that it was glued to. And I also had to break out the jigsaw and cut a new curved bottom piece to go between the legs. Then we sanded everything down and painted it this white color called Queen Anns Lace. We're letting it dry now. Then we have to sandpaper the edges and random spots on the surface to distress the paint and give it a rough and shabby look. Then we have to rubs some darker stain into the roughed up areas and wipe it off which will accent the roughed up areas. It should look very nice. Here are the before shots.

I'm turning out to be, aren't I? Actually I had to revamp my process. Sanding it down and then adding the stain screwed it up because the stain adheared to the paint which discolored it. It's best to just scuff it up and leave it alone. Whatever color was underneath will come through the scuff marks so just leave it at that. If you have a plain piece of wood then paint it a darker color, let it dry, then paint it the new color and scuff it up. The dark color will come through the scuff marks.

Couldn't make one but I could refurbish one. I'm not handy enough to outright make one yet.

Nice Job, but wait till you start buying wood working tools , it will take a second mortgage to fill your garage with cool tools But this has to be the ultimate all in one tools http://www.smithy.com/WWdefault.htm I want one of their 3-in-1 metal tools ( drill press, mill, and lathe) Smithy makes a good product too.

Now that guy takes wood working on a whole higher level alright......I dont much care for working with wood, i measure 5 times and still cut it to short....LOL Thats why I love working with metal as I can weld it back together and not waste anything , plus wood doesnt have bending qualities

The only other tool that I need right now is a table saw. I would like the ability to make straight cuts on big boards of wood in case I make another subwoofer one day.

Yes, it is very important that I am happy with it otherwise it's just plain crap. I like my dresser. Too bad the clothes that were supposed to go in it are still on the floor.
