I need to find some songs for my brother and would like to find a good place online to get it. For a change of pace it does not need to be free but a good format that will play for everyone without a lot of additional downloads would be good.

Anything you pay for will most likely have DRM, so some additional downloading will be necessary. iTunes is probably the most popular.

To work around compatibility issues, burn the songs to a CD as an audio CD, and then let your brother encode them as regular MP3 files on his computer.

all I know is DRM sucks.. My old Frontier Labs MP3 player won't play them at all, rather there MP3 or WMA it won't play DRM's at all, but then what do ya expect from a company out of Hong Kong

and buring to CD just to rip them for an mp3 player just seems so...wasteful...LOL

Don't worry Mk as threads seem to have a habit of disapearing at harold's place when no one is looking

More then once I have tried looking up old threads I made or posted in the past only to find them all gone

Now days I usally try to post stuff in the threads I am used to when I find stuff rather then create a new thread. That way I know where to look for items I posted in the past when the search does not find it

what annoys me about DRM the most I think, if you format your hard drive, your DRM license is lost... or if you backup the file to another hard drive on another computer again your DRM license is LOST.. or if you buy the song on one computer, but want to play the song on another computer in your home that has 5.1 surround sound on it the DRM license is gone, irritates me to no end.. its like, discouraging people from buying music online because they can only play the music on the computer it was purchased from. can't put the file on your media center so its played thru your home theatre system or nothing, it just sucks.

they need to like, distribute an actual license file of some sort along with the music file that you can backup on situations like this... I would think even the band who wrote these songs would get irritated by this if they were computer literate at all you'd think... I know if I wrote a song and the record company I was working for gave me my song in a DRM file and I couldn't play my own freakin song on another computer I'd be pissed.

I never delete threads. They are here to be found if you look long enough. If a reply is relevant to the thread, I see nothing wrong with a revival. I do this too.

Gotta go. Lisa just brought my treat of KFC in fron town.
