We picked these guys up at our local TSC store after eating lunch in town yesterday.

They are going to be all white with slightly larger heads.

I like baby ducks. We always had ducks at the farm.

No. Most animals should be checked at minimum of twice a day. At least morning and evening. That's what we did when I was running a hog farm. When we were heavy into the farrowing we would be there half or all of the day.

Those are so cute. When we bought our chickens a couple of weeks ago they had ducks and I wanted one but was told that stepping on duck doo doo is much worse than chicken doo doo so I gave in. We only have a small area so I have to be practical.
On a different note, when they were showing me the ducklings they put one into the pen with the chickens and said watch what they do to the webbed feet and straight away all the baby chickens started pecking at the webbed duckling`s feet. NOT nice
As for naming said bird, Mark wants to call the chickens Ingham and Steggles. (both are brand names on frozen chickens here ) So far I`m looking for something suitable.

How are you going to keep them? My parents bought geese and they ran off at night.

We have a fenced in pen for when they get bigger and Lisa will be clipping their wings. I want to have them used to being handled so they will be tame and stick around. Then I'd like to see them on the pond.

And keep a watch for varmints. We lost several to varmints. And our ducks could fly.

We've lost several to a possum or coon while inside the pen. This spring I have to remove a skunk or a skunk family out of the loft in the barn. It stinks in there. I'll have to leave to barn doors open all summer just for it to air out.

I'd say you have another full-time job there.

They are just lovely pics to have....your back yard is just soooo much bigger than mine. The ducks are gorgeous, although they were much cuter when they were little.

You should also be glad you don't have three or four acres of yard to mow. It takes about six hours to mow everything once.

You mow the whole lot? I definately don`t want that much but our entire house block is only 600 square metres. We did look at buying a place with almost 1 acre and I told Mark I would buy him a trucker`s cap and he could do his Forest Gump on the ride on mower. hehe

We currently own 6 acres with maybe 4 of it being yard that can be mowed. Lisa's parents still own another 10 acres of woods that we need to buy someday. Lisa's parents built this place and moved into town when they retired.

Cool. Makes my parking lot pale in comparison.

Harold I have got mine down to one acre of yard that I have to mow.
